Peter Bonn built this charming stone home for his wife, Caroline Lochte, shortly after their marriage in October 1859. Mr. Bonn farmed the land until 1869, when he divided the home-place between his two sons. Your hostess' grandparents purchased the property in the 1930's and continued to farm the countryside. During the home's existence, it has been a residence, a granary, and a barn. In 1994, your hostess revived the cottage to its present state as a charming getaway from hustle and bustle.
A large front porch invites you to enjoy the country quiet by use of rocking chairs. A living room, bathroom, and kitchen comprise the downstairs. The living room offers a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the television (limited reception with an antenna). With views overlooking the nearby valleys, the kitchen is fully equipped for light cooking. The bath has a shower. Looking out from the back porch, you will be entranced by endless pockets of farmland and meadows.
The original staircase that leads upstairs is steep, so be very careful! The bedroom is upstairs and takes full advantage of the uniquely pitched roof. Exposed wood ceilings and rustic rope trim give you a rich feeling of country appeal. Guests are welcome to venture into the basement and look over some of the family antiques and farm implements.
Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.
