About this property

Meusebach Creek Farm | Country Cabin for 2

Peter Bonn built this charming stone home for his wife, Caroline Lochte, shortly after their marriage in October 1859. Mr. Bonn farmed the land until 1869, when he divided the home-place between his two sons. Your hostess' grandparents purchased the property in the 1930's and continued to farm the countryside. During the home's existence, it has been a residence, a granary, and a barn. In 1994, your hostess revived the cottage to its present state as a charming getaway from hustle and bustle.

A large front porch invites you to enjoy the country quiet by use of rocking chairs. A living room, bathroom, and kitchen comprise the downstairs. The living room offers a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the television (limited reception with an antenna). With views overlooking the nearby valleys, the kitchen is fully equipped for light cooking. The bath has a shower. Looking out from the back porch, you will be entranced by endless pockets of farmland and meadows.

The original staircase that leads upstairs is steep, so be very careful! The bedroom is upstairs and takes full advantage of the uniquely pitched roof. Exposed wood ceilings and rustic rope trim give you a rich feeling of country appeal. Guests are welcome to venture into the basement and look over some of the family antiques and farm implements.

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

Birthday Getaway Treat
I wanted to gift my son and dil a getaway for her bday weekend. She preferred something outside of the city. They loved the peacefulness, quiet, and charm of the rental. And the daily treats were great! They had a great time on their stay! 😊

Perfect Respite from the Crowds
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home. We came to see the total solar eclipse in April – the location was 10 minutes from Fredericksburg, but off a country road so we avoided all the crowds and just relaxed. Everything was in order and working when we arrived. Our hostess arrived every afternoon with a basket of goodies for the next morning breakfast and the kitchen was stocked with other breakfast staples. We spent our days wandering down to the creek and exploring the property, and birdwatching from both the front and back porches. Key sightings were scissor-tailed and vermillion flycatchers and a juvenile common black hawk. And we were serenaded by northern cardinals and black-crested titmice. Other times we visited nearby wineries and some local parks for hiking. It was everything we were looking for.

Get-away!
This was our second visit to the sweetest Little Rock cottage in Fredericksburg. If the morning sunrise coming up over the pasture, deer, turkeys and even Jack rabbits don’t charm you the owner of the cottage definitely will! She delivers the best pastries and home made bread you can imagine! The place is extremely clean , homey and efficient! It’s a “can’t go wrong”place to stay!! We highly recommend!

Peaceful simple life. Great place! Our only caution is that, if you can’t handle stairs, the bedroom is up and the bathroom is down. No big deal to us.

Perfect weekend
Went to stay at the cottage for our 8th anniversary and to get away from our busy life back home. Got to explore the basement which had old items that belonged to the house. Our first night there we drank some wine that the hostess left for us along w goodies. And read some of the previous guest comments in these journals that are left behind. Thought that was pretty neat. Woke up super early to watch the sunrise. Never done that before and it was mesmerizing. Got to see some deer. Took a walk to the creek in the back…I fell; we laughed about it didn’t injure myself. Went to the market trades there in Fredericksburg…didn’t expect it to be so big. Food was amazing. You need to try their burgers and funnel cakes! Oh and their raspberry lemonade! House was perfect… Quite, relaxing and peaceful. Hung outside the back enjoy the cool night breeze while drinking some more wine. Actually took our telescope to look at the moon and stars. It was awesome seen the moon red. The bathroom is downstairs which was stocked w body wash and shampoo which I did forget to pack. The refrigerator was stocked w breakfast items. Stayed in the rest of the evening and coked dinner and drank more wine. That weekend was so relaxing. Will be going back next year. We loved how away from town we are and the quietness.

Be still my soul
We enjoyed the privacy and peace found at this charming cottage. We appreciate how the home has been respectfully restored staying true to it’s history. The hidden creek past the trees behind the house, the wildlife, trees, shade, and breeze made our search for a stress free weekend a success. Whether your are one to go in town for the day or enjoy city night life, the location can’t be beat. We bought a puzzle from a shop on Main Street and stayed indoors for hours. The home offers just the right amount of quiet and peace while offering just the right amount of modern day amenities. Will definitely be back!

Perfect anniversary getaway
We loved everything about this tiny farmhouse. The privacy, the quiet, the wildlife, the charm. The AC stayed cold which was nice for the 100+ degree days we were there. The property was clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the make your own breakfast and muffins from the host. The only thing that we had issue with was the lack of window coverings upstairs for the early morning sun. We will absolutely stay here again. Thank you to the wonderful and thoughtful host.
