Welcome to the Shore Thing! Our recently renovated lake house is located in a secluded community (Yankee Run) on Kanopolis Lake, KS, where there’s something for everyone. Rather you’re looking for a fun family weekend at the lake, fishing, horseback riding, or a place to rest after some epic Kansas hunting, we’ve got you covered. Since this is our personal oasis and we stay here often we want you to feel truly like a guest — what’s ours is yours. We provide bedding, towels, toiletries, washer/dryer with detergent, and even snacks. Our kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and supplies needed and there is a smoker/grill, flat top and outdoor kitchen in our “tiki” bar (just needs plugged in). Yankee Run is a golf cart community that loves to have fun while encouraging safety for all the families that enjoy it. Use of our golf cart is available upon request to get you down to our private dock for fishing (must request access), or to the private use beach area for enjoying the water. If you’re a hunter looking to make every minute count, we can even provide personal grocery service to save you time (cost of groceries + 20% gratuity, we’ll deliver and stock the house for you, must be requested at least 48hrs ahead of your stay, alcoholic beverages of your choice may be requested also upon age verification).
Bathrooms include shampoo, soap, and plenty of toilet paper.
Comfy beds, great heating/cooling, and WiFi/Smart TVs in 2 of the 3 bedrooms so you can stream your favorite shows during your stay. Books and board games too.
Hart Marina, on the State Park side of the lake, offers boat, kayak and golf cart rentals and there is also a public swimming beach and playground near there (day passes required).
Kanopolis Lake is a US Army Corps of Engineers property and boasts horseback riding trails, hiking trails, plenty of Bald Eagles, and much much more (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanopolis_Lake). The lake is open to sport fishing.and nearly 16,000 acres of public (walk-in) hunting (if you’re lucky you will even spot deer and turkey in our back yard!).
There is also a quaint old-fashion family-friendly drive-in theatre nearby (http://www.kanopolisdrivein.com/).
Come to Shore Thing and take in the lake, the land and our fun little community while staying! If you need any help or advice during your stay, just hit us up. We’re happy to help and want to ensure you enjoy every moment.
