Here is some extra info about our property:
Wood heaters & firewood
There is one combustion wood heater in the living area. There are fire starters as well as matches next to the fireplace. There are logs to the right of the entrance to the house. Please take extra care when using the fireplace. It is important to ensure that the fireplace door is completely closed before you go to bed.We provide enough firewood to get you going. Feel free to collect dry fallen wood off the property or buy additional firewood from the service center.
We normally supply complimentary firewoods during the winter months from June to August to our guests. However, our firewoods are not retailed woods. We bought them from the local logging companies with wholesale price. They normally won’t start supplying the woods before June. You are welcome to consider buying a small amount of retailed firewoods from a nearby petrol station outdide of June-August winter periods. One bag of woods is usually $25.
Heaters
There are three options for heating. We have a log burner in the lounge and reverse-cycle air conditioning/heating. We have also provided oil column heaters in each bedroom. To conserve energy and efficient heating, please keep the doors closed and turn off when not in use.
Air-conditioning
The split air-conditioning system can generate both heat and cooling in the lounge and kitchen area. There are ceiling fans in most of the bedrooms.
Coffee
The house comes with a Nespresso Essenza Mini Capsule Coffee Machine with Milk Frother. You may choose to bring your own standard Nespresso-compatible capsules. Please ensure you clean the machine after use. Some instant coffee, tea bags, sugar, and milk will be provided for guest use.
Goat / Sheep
If you choose to feed Bertie the goat, please ensure it is only wheat bix, grass, or hay. The goat is not allowed food scraps. She is well-fed but has a delicate stomach. The sheep also love wheat bix.
Tank water & Septic system
The house operates on tank water and a septic system. This means that the water is collected off the roof and shed and stored in a water tank. When you turn a tap on, a pump starts and pumps the water through. If we have a power outage the water won’t run. The septic system is a disbursement system and will only handle toilet paper and human waste. Nothing else is to be flushed, in particular female hygiene products as they won’t dissolve and the system can get blocked up and overflow which will never be a nice country experience.
Local wildlife
Please be mindful that we are in the country so there are bugs and critters outside and they occasionally come for a wander inside. It is very rare but if you sight a snake or an animal you’re unsure of please message us immediately; do not attempt to remove or touch a snake or animal you’re unsure of.
When driving at dusk or dawn we have kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos, wombats, and other beautiful native wildlife crossing the road. At that time of the day/night, it is a little harder to see too so please be careful when driving. We occasionally have the odd horse or cattle out on an excursion from their paddocks to watch out for as well. If you have any concerns regarding any animals just message us.
