To get right to the point, the description of the location of this property is NOWHERE CLOSE to where it actually is. The description claims it's located in the town of Grundarfjordur, a 1-minute walk from the public pool. It is actually located 24 km away, nearer to Stykkishólmur.
It's a nice enough property otherwise (we stayed in the red building). I've rated it as "OK" because of this, and because I didn't see the part in the confirmation email stating I had to contact the property to arrange check-in. Had I seen that, perhaps we could have avoided the harrowing experience we had with finding the property at 1:00 a.m. (and we wouldn't have found it, except for an extremely kind couple in Grundarfjordur who took us in and helped us contact the property, and then literally drove us out to it in the middle of the night.)
It was unlocked for us when we got there, but the owner didn't stay around to make sure we got in okay. We only met the owner at checkout (and then only by accident), and they told us we had actually stayed in the wrong property, that the one we had booked was across the road. The one we stayed in was the one in the picture in the confirmation email, so this was very confusing.
The owner seemed nice enough. I've given him a whole month before leaving a review to see if he would fix the description, but he has not. Therefore, I think it's time that I left this honest review so that others can know to verify the actual location if they decide to book there.
