Terribly dusty. After trying two rooms I believe it was from the aircon which was weak, and needs the filters to be changed however I did find surfaces with a lot of dust. The beds were super hard. Otherwise a solid stay with good service

Exceptional 5 star hotel with a big restaurant/breakfast area with lots of different tasty food, and fantastic pool with well priced cocktails and other drinks. Nice lobby and concierge. Everything was good except for the thunderstorms. 2/4 nights had bad loud noises thunderstorms and lasted about 20 to 30 minutes long. It sounded like something or someone got so angry and fighting with each other in the sky. And because of that the power went out a few times, but back on fast. But we did enjoy the city. We did the limestone tour boat ride and city tour bus ride and it was fun. Food was amazing.

The hotel is set up for large coach loads of visitors - lots of Chinese guest when we were there. The staff tend to shout which is unlike most Vietnamese people. The beautiful rooftop pool was spoilt by playing mainly drum and bass with the bass at the maximum level, we bought drinks to sit in the bar but it was so loud we moved to reception. If it were rock music I would have stayed. The rooms are comfortable but you have to request additional pillows (only 1 each provided) toilet roll must be precious as not readily replaced and just 2 tea bags and a ready make coffee mixture that’s so sweet it’s undrinkable. Breakfast had many options but few for a western pallet and the worst coffe I have ever tasted, the breads very good. The staff just don’t really care they say yes as they assume that’s what you want to hear but then don’t do anything, I asked 4 times re noise but no one did anything about it. It’s nearly new so looks great, well situated with many restaurants in walking distance as is the night market but it’s not 5 star standard on service. Great views and comfy bed but I was glad to leave it.

View from the room and rooftop pool were great. Everything was clean and the hotel seems new. We loved this area, but note it is not in the main tourist area. We walked into the neighborhood for dinner, really liked Mangos Restaurant. Rented a motorbike and had free parking. Very happy we chose the Watson.

This is a good hotel in Ha Long. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The pool area is also a good place to relax if you need some down time. The service is generally good - there was sometimes a language barrier but that is to be expected. The restaurant is fine, breakfast is varied. For lunch/dinner it was quite expensive (by Vietnam standards) but there aren’t really many other options to eat in the area. A couple minor points that could be improved: the gym (generally good for a hotel gym, but the AC didn’t seem to work, which made for an uncomfortable work out), pillows in the room (you only get two, and while I did get extra on asking, I would expect 4 to be standard in a 5* hotel). Overall, a good stay.

The Watson was a nice place. It had a beautiful pool and amazing breakfast. Staff was very attentive. Location did not offer much but taxis were readily available.

Clean, modern hotel. Staff very helpful and always on hand. Fantastic infinity pool and bar. Great views of Halong Bay. We booked this as a base as we were not keen on the reviews we saw for the cruise boats that are the standard way to see Halong Bay, We found if you go to the cruise port in the morning you can book a day trip and see just as much of the bay up close. For us this seemed a better option, rather than rushing on and off a cruise boat with all our bags, etc. Food and drinks at the Watson were good and the breakfast which was included at no additional cost was excellent and international in nature. Something for everyone and lots of it. Rooms were very nice, Pay the small extra charge for a bay / sea view. The hotel should consider two chairs and a small table for the balcony area. That would have made it quite perfect. Would stay here again,

Great spot in Halong
We had a great stay at The Watson overall. The hotel feels brand new and is very quiet, comfortable and modern. The spa is excellent, with good treatments overall and a nice steam sauna area. The masseuse was on her phone which was not good and I hope management reinforces that its not acceptable in the future. The pool area is beautiful with a good bar and good service. The room is comfortable- we booked a luxury suite and loved the space it afforded. The only weird things were the bathroom had no standing shower- only a tub with a freehand shower handle which was not great. Also there's no balcony furniture? we ended up putting our chair outside so enjoy the view. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again!
