Misleading hotel listing
I stayed at the Alpine Club in June with a friend. Contrary to the listing, there was no wireless internet anywhere on the property, no coffee/tea maker in the room, no laundry services, no iron or ironing board on request. While we were there there was also no hot water, when we wanted to bathe we would call for a bucket of hot water to be brought up to the room. The noise from the water pump is intermittent and incredibly loud, we could hear it on and off through the day and night. To get from the hotel to the start of the town it is a very steep 30 minute walk downhill, getting back up is about 45 minutes so it feels very isolating, no easy trips to get food, and if you have bad knees I don't think you'd be able to manage the walk. You can take a prepaid taxi from town to the hotel for 300 rupees. The hotel is far enough up the mountain that you don't hear the constant honking from Mall Road, which is nice. Because we were in the mountains there were constantly moths and other flying insects in our room. As well as dead ones on the carpet and in the curtains. Nothing that bit, but not the most pleasant thing.
