This hotel was not what I had expected… was very grateful to have a place to lay my head, but the wall paper was peeling off the walls, the toilet made funny noise, there’s no AC in the bedrooms, the pool looked very dirty, a lot of broken equipment in the fitness center, the sheets felt like paper, there was not a single garbage bag in any of the garbage cans when we arrived, and it’s fairly expensive for not having on site parking or breakfast included. The employees never once told me the price of anything when they were using my credit card, I had to ask them for it. There was employees smoking pretty well right out front of the entrance (which I mean fine but maybe move a little farther from the building?) it just overall was not what I had expected and it feels very expensive for what we actually received :/ not a great experience unfortunately, the only good thing is the location it was easy walking really but that’s about all this hotel had to offer.

The location of this hotel is amazing fur exploring Halifax- up to the Citadel, down to the waterfront - just perfect. However, the hotel must have undergone renovations on some floors and not others. We were on floor 1, with other families. The air conditioning condensed into the room and dripped on the carpet and had a nasty smell. There was mouldy food under the bed from a former guest.

There was nothing great to share about our stay, it started with a late check in as the room wasn’t ready and then I was lied to from the manager (as we were supposed to get an upgrade for the inconvenience) then the staff tried to gaslight me about the size of the beds, I will never stay at this hotel again, I spent the first two nights of my stay with only a sheet as they were “out” of blankets, (on the couch might I add) since they didn’t make up the pull out couch bed, the room is insanely out dated (zero lighting and three tv channels, stained carpet and a window that wouldn’t close) house keeping only comes once every 3 days and even then they didn’t restock coffee or toilet paper. There are 4 guests and they only give you 3 towels … which means you have to continually ask for the extra one or track down the house keeping cart. Parking is a nightmare and there’s an extra charge to guest for that.

The hotel stay was fine. But the hotel was very shifty about how the parking was at the hotel. There was a lot of construction in progress around the hotel, and it turns out you have to park your car a couple blocks away (and it's ~$30 per day). We had a lot of luggage and it was a pain getting everything back and forth from the car. It would have been fine if they had been upfront about it, but they only informed us about the parking situation less than a day before scheduled arrival (so we could only cancel if we paid some hefty cancellation fees). We were there for 5 days so it was quite an issue. Again, telling us beforehand would have been the right thing to do (and no, the construction did not start the day we arrived, it had been in progress for a while :-) )

The staff here are great and were quick to upgrade me to the presidential suite to ensure I had a place to stay. The suite was very clean and tidy. I would say it could use some upgrades to some of the old countertops but overall its a great place with an excellent staff.

I all of my experiences with Expedia VIP hotels, I have always felt like a VIP UNTIL this stay. There were no benefits at all, in fact, I felt like I was a nuisance. We were a group of 9 girls from Ontario and had 3 rooms (all 2 x double beds). The first room I was in, the air conditioner was not working. So I went to the front desk, they sent maintenance up. He was there for about 15 min and then told me he had to go the shop for parts. He came back about 10 min later and told me that the property management company had to change the temperature on the water for my room's unit and that it would be done shortly. That was around 4pm. We went out for about 3 hours and came back to the room being warmer than it was when we left. So I went back downstairs and asked to be moved. To which I was told they would send maintenance. I told them that maintenance had already been there and that it still wasn't working and I wanted to be moved. Then I was told there were no rooms left and that I would be put on a list for tomorrow. So I went back down the next morning. The 2 people I had been dealing with the day before ignored me and a new front desk clerk told me he would send maintenance up. I refused and asked again for a new room. When I finally got to my new room, it was a King bed instead of 2 beds but at least the AC seemed to work. There were other issues but this was the worst. No offer for any sort of apology or effort to make up for the inconvenience. Will never be back.

The place is old and needs serious renovations. Old and smelly furniture in the rooms… ventilation is limited.. dirty furniture in lobby… Staff was ok and did their best. Not impressed when I needed a document to be printed… they asked me to come down so they could provide an email address…but they did end up providing a decent service. I would not be so hard on this hotel if the price had been lower. It was very expensive for what I got.

We paid nearly $1800 cnd to stay 7 nights at this dump! There is massive construction all around the outside of the hotel hard to get in and out! They only clean the rooms every 3rd day!!! This hotel needs a room refresh in a bad way! looking very dated, wall paper pealing looks like it was last renowned in the 80's. I would definitely not stay here If I were you, and I will not come back, the restaurant in the lobby called TEMPO was ridiculous, one morning we decided jut to get to coffees as we had plans that AM and for 2 plain coffees it was $9.40 cnd also the pool was very dirty! my wife's skin had some oily substance on it after getting out of the pool! It was just a very bad experiance and the staff were not apologetic nor apathic to our concern as if they had heard it a million times and just could not do anything about it! One positive thought is that the hotel is conveniently located right down town the boardwalk and other downtown locations are very close! It looks to me that the owners of this establishment are not putting any money into this hotel in order to generate maximum revenue!
