This was a nice country location for us visiting Winchester which was circa 30mins drive away.
initial perception was of a large but friendly inn and were greeted by a young woman who showed us our room.
The room (Lanner Falcon?) was of an adequate size for our overnight visit and was clean. Fresh cold water and tea and coffee facilities were provided. However, the ceiling had a rather large water stain from when the roof must have leaked, the bathroom Lino floor was stained and peeling from many years usage and the window frame was also showing signs of rot.
The bed was adequate but the mattress needs changing in the near future as it is nearing the end of its life.
As most other reviews have stated, the old windows are single glazed due to the age of the building and the (low volume) traffic noise can be rather noticeable given the quiet surroundings late at night or early in the morning.
Continental breakfast was a disappointment with a fruit selection of an apple or pear; cereal being a limited choice of Kellog's selection boxes; no yoghurts on offer and only white sliced toast being available. There was no choices of cheeses or cold meats that we would have expected.
So in summary, this Inn is clean, lower priced than an Hotel, in a style analogous to its age, but in real need of a refurbishment and having emphasis as being run as an accommodation business rather than a bolt on to the main business of running a pub/restaurant.
