Nohonani Kauai Love
The house itself is awesome! The location is so cool - with views of the mountains and all the greenery. The art inside the house was a wonderful surprise. Based on other reviews I was nervous about the dogs barking, but we didn't find it bad at all.

Nohonani House
We had a great time at the Nohonani house. Overall the place is very nice. The screened porch was wonderful for sitting and viewing the mountains completely bug free! The AC in the bedroom was a great addition. Not only does it cool the room for sleeping but it is noisy enough to cover the sound of the dogs barking at night. The barking isn't constant but it can be very loud. It was the one thing that might deter us from returning.

In the “Deep Country “
Wonder views of the mountains, valley and waterfalls. Strong Wi-Fi and very limited cellular. Screened in Lanai was the best part. Great outdoor shower to rinse off after a day on the beach. Keep the front screen and door closed to keep out the mosquitoes….especially around 5pm. Barking hunting dogs were a nuisance. Sound machine did help at night.

A great place to explore the north side of the island. Short drive to everything, and the wonderful, large screen porch for relaxing on a rainy afternoon.

Jungle oasis
We loved staying here. We had one very stormy day and it was delightful to watch the wind blowing, rain pouring down, the clouds blowing across the sky. We even enjoyed the night sounds the dogs barking, the bullfrogs singing into the night, topped off with the rosters crowing at the crack of dawn. Plus the many birds flitting about. The screened porch made this all possible! Great place- we always look for off the beaten track places- much more real.

No one mentioned the dogs
The place was perfect. The surroundings were beautiful. The only problem was that there was a kennel next door and other nearby dogs that barked to each other all day and night. The property managers have put in sound canceling speakers so we were able to sleep. There was no mention of the dogs until we got there and read it in the folder that we “may occasionally hear the neighbors hunting dogs.” We wanted to love this place but I resented not knowing about the dogs ahead of time.

Mostly Paradise
One step into the house and your eyes are instantly drawn to the windows. Amazing sweeping Mountain View’s that are breathtaking. The majority of my time was spent on the screened lanai. Loved the sites and sounds of the birds, including the roosters. It’s mostly peaceful but there did seem to be packs of dogs barking off and on throughout the day and night. Some days/nights were better than others but it made it difficult to have windows and sliders open. One night there was screaming and gunshots from a neighboring property and the lack of curtains made me a bit nervous. Definitely made use of the white noise machine in the bedroom to fall asleep. Think about packing ear plugs. Adequate supplies, things are a bit run down, furniture and bed are not so comfortable, and odd furniture layout. Loved the geckos and lizards taking care of business inside and out on the lanai.

An extraordinary spot - with a caveat
It exceeded our expectations in it’s comforts and it’s one of a kind sweeping valley view. I’ll never forget getting up in the morning and stepping thru the bedroom slider onto the wraparound lanai, passing the living room, the dining room and into the kitchen to make coffee, all the while taking in a view out of a tourist brochure.

First Anniversary Honeymoon
We own a construction company and our wedding last year was beautiful but in the middle of pouring concrete foundations. This trip was a delayed honeymoon for our first Anniversary and it was great to spend it in such a beautiful location. We love the quiet neighborhood (except for the constant roosters crowing!), proximity to the beach, and closeness to Haena State Park. We definitely recommend this beautiful house.

Jungle Paradise! It is as you are mile from the Ocean but just a few hundred feet. Your can hear it. Very Rural but nice House but second floor only, but Tree Top Level holds great views! Jungle Sounds, Jungle Experience, plan ahead for food at Safeway, Walmart, or Costco in Lihue are the Safeway in Kapaa. There are many food options on the North Shore but not much Breakfast option for Mainlanders

Magical place
We are grateful to the host for sharing their amazing house. We thought the area was so special and being able to wake up to that view every morning was magical. As a note for future visitors: There are a lot of mosquitoes and luckily the outdoor porch is screened in. It made a huge difference. We will try and stay here once a year!

Island paradise
We loved this place. Giant sliding doors that opened up to a large screened in deck made it feel like we were sleeping outside without dealing with bugs. The view was amazing, and we loved sitting out on the deck with our morning coffee. There is a Keurig and a drip coffee maker, a blender, and a coffee grinder there. The kitchen was well stocked with pans, plates, and utensils. The only complaint we had was the pack of dogs that would bark loudly every evening, often times into night while we were trying to sleep. Closing the doors helped, but we loved sleeping with the open doors. If you are not a sound sleeper, bring ear plugs (you'll want them for the roosters even if you stay somewhere away from dogs). Other than that, we loved the location and view. Overall, we were very pleased with this selection!

Good but not great
Pros: The views are stunning on the lanai and in bedroom. Mostly private ( neighbors can see into living area and lanai from their lanai, especially in the evening). Comfortable king bed. Mirrored closets. Adequate dish ware, paper goods, cleaning items ( dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent), cooler, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, umbrella, towels, reusable bags. Hot and cold shower outside. Hammock and chairs on lanai was nice. DVDs were nice, brought me back to my younger years! Minutes drive to a quiet, non-touristy beach (beautiful reef). Close drive to happy hour at Opakapaka and coffee shop. Property manager was very responsive when we had issues ie outside shower head and running out of gas. Cons: not immaculately cleaned but decent. Not proactive with maintaining home ie sliding glass doors don’t slide easily, outside shower head corroded and sprayed into the trees, gas ran out to hot water, stove, laundry. Light switch upstairs for outside stairs doesn’t reach bottom of stairs ( my husband tripped at bottom of stairs due to minimal light). Furniture is not very comfortable and awkwardly placed to watch a movie (we moved furniture around). A reclining couch could be placed where the large glass office table and chair are in the living area. We had to fuss with the cords to get the DVD player to work. The place is on 2 and 1/4 acres but you are not allowed to walk all of the property-only about 1/4 of this. Plenty of beautiful fruit trees that guests are not allowed to pick from. Overall good place to stay not great. It does have all you need for a wonderful experience in Kauai.
