About this property

La Soledad Lavender Farm on the Potomac

Fresh open space guesthouse with private entrance over a detached barn style garage. Situated between our lavender field and view of Potomac River in historic Harper’s Ferry. Walking distance to lower town Harper’s Ferry and Harpers Ferry Historic National Park. Appalachian Trail too!

French country style open concept space (with private bathroom), soaring ceiling and spectacular views all around. Hardwood floors, marble bathroom. Queen size bed, sofa, smart tv, electric fireplace, dining area and kitchen all in one light filled space with beautiful views from all four sides!

Entire apartment with private entrance. Completely detached from main house. Shared use of fire pit overlooking the river (watch the sunset over the mountains!), outdoor dining gazebo (bring a picnic!) and grounds of lavender farm (the scent is wonderful!)

We are often outside working or enjoying our property, and love to share with guests. We have three goofy dogs that are outside most days. They never enter the guesthouse though. Texts and phone calls with questions are fine.

We are on 1 1/2 riverfront acres within the limits of the historic town of Harpers Ferry. It is exactly a one mile walk to the convergence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, as well as the Appalachian Trail! (The distance listed below is incorrect.) You do not need a car to go to wonderful local restaurants and coffee shops. There is plenty Civil War history here and lots to see and learn at the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. We have three different rafting companies in town, and two rivers to raft, or just float on inner tubes! The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is just down the street, and the trail comes right through town. If you are into something a little more relaxed, we are surrounded by many local wineries and breweries just a short distance away!

Most things here are within walking distance. Be aware that we are in a town with some hills, so wear comfortable shoes. You will need a car to go to the grocery store. We have several within just a few miles. There are limited paid parking spots within the small town if you are not into walking the short walk down. We have plenty of parking available here at La Soledad.

We have plenty of parking on our property (it is very scarce in this historic town!) You can leave your car here and walk to local restaurants, the park museums and shops, or go hiking or cycling. Electric bike rentals are available. There are hills and a few uneven sidewalks in town.
Light cooking only, no oil frying etc. Cuisinart mini oven / air fryer, microwave, hotplate, and full size refrigerator provided. Outdoor grill and eating area strongly encouraged!

We have a no-open-flame policy in the unit. Please, no candles indoors.

Please run dishwasher before leaving on the “Sanitize” setting.

We strongly recommend to leave shoes just inside the front door because of the pandemic.

Amazing getaway
The property was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the guesthouse above the garage (she has a couple guesthouses on her property) and it was a wonderful retreat from the daily grind. All the amenities you could need for a short stay were there, and some personal touches really elevated the experience. We took advantage of the Adirondack chairs overlooking the river--at night with a bottle of wine, and then again in the morning with coffee from the nearby bakery. There was always a welcoming committee of three super friendly dogs (and even the cat made an appearance!). Walkable distance to a couple smaller restaurants, but a little too far to walk to get into the main area of Harpers Ferry (which is nice because you didn't feel any of the presence of all of the tourists). We ran into the host, and she was so nice and lovely to talk to. We would absolutely be back!

The Perfect Getaway
This was the perfect place to stay for my first-ever visit to Harpers Ferry, and my much-needed weekend away. The property itself is beautiful and so well-kept, and it had a feeling of comfortable luxury. It had everything I needed, including great spots to relax and read, and unwind and appreciate the natural surroundings. Christie is such a gracious host who made me feel so welcome, not only at the property, but in Harpers Ferry as well. Her enthusiasm for the town and her recommendations for what to see and where to eat made my stay even more special. I loved waking up to views of the Potomac River and the gorgeous and fragrant lavender field, and I’m already thinking of when I might be able to plan a future stay.

We have rented numerous VRBO properties and this one is truly exceptional. Christie, the host, welcomed us warmly into her guesthouse. It was clean, well stocked, beautifully decorated, full of light, and had gorgeous views of the lavender in full bloom. The location was perfect for a walk into town, a hike, or a meal in Bolivar.

My wife and I were staying here for our wedding day that was taking place up the road. This stay was one of our favorites that we have done. The owners are vwry patient and responsive. The guest suit is very clean and comfortable with alot of natural light. I definitely recommend this property. Also, they dogs that live on the property are great and will greet you outside.

Beautiful Unit
The unit itself is immaculate and couldn't be nicer. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the lack of privacy and level of activity at the property. The owner lives on site (which is fine) but the amount of other people milling around working on a project in the garage directly below our unit (until late at night) was not something that we expected. Like I said, the unit is fantastic and the owner couldn't be nicer but it's not as private as I thought it would be.

If you’re looking to enjoy all that Harpers Ferry has to offer, stop and book this listing now. I cannot gush enough over every aspect of this clean, thoughtfully cultivated property. Christie and her merry band of four legged companions are treasures in their own right and I can’t wait to return. A sensational weekend!

Would Definitely Recommend!
We have only great things to say about this property. It is beautiful, clean, well appointed, and in a great location. We are animal lovers so our favorite part was the two dogs and cat that greeted us everyday. They were so friendly! The owner provided us with many great recommendations for things to do and restaurants which was very helpful. We would definitely come back!

Great location! Clean, updated, upstairs guest house
We enjoyed our stay at this great location guest house. We were greeted by the 2 sweetest puppies who were very excited to have guests. The property is super cute with the lavender field and nice view at the corner of the property of the river below. The sound of the rushing water running through the rocks was music to our ears. The guest house is themed in all lavender appointed items with even unique lavender purple garage doors. There is a tall set of stairs when you enter that leads up to a large open concept bedroom bathroom and kitchen. Everything was beautifully decorated. We would have preferred a larger bed but it was very comfortable. We did not cook in the kitchen but there was a toaster oven and hot pot if needed. We would recommend a kcup machine or regular coffee maker however the Nespresso machine was a nice touch. We did enjoy it. We walked down to the music venue at the Barn one night. We felt safe in this quaint small town. We would highly recommend staying in this guest home to anyone.

Perfect escape at Harpers Ferry!
Christie’s guesthouse was absolutely perfect for enjoying Harpers Ferry. Only a short walk to the lower/historic part of town, but very close to some great restaurants and night entertainment. The place itself was absolute perfection! Not one detail was missed - from the decor and amenities to the comfortable bed and linens/towels. We truly felt like we were right at home. And the grounds of the property were beautiful. It was nice to be able to relax and have some peace and quiet while taking in the lovely smells from the lavender fields. We were especially happy to be kept company by her two dogs! Christie herself was the best host and we were very appreciative of all her recommendations and suggestions. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Beautiful, Relaxing, and Close to Many Things!
Our stay at La Soledad Lavender Farm was so wonderful! The property is truly truly pretty... The lavender frield is gorgeous, the house and property decor is comfortable ywt upscale, and the view from the yard is amazing. Everything about the property is welcoming and relaxing. It is designed to draw you in and make you feel cozy. This also includes the greeting party made up of dogs, Blue and Buster; cat, Romeo; and of course the lovely host Christie!! La Soledad really does feel like a home-away-from-home! In fact, it was pretty common for the animals to greet us each morning and when we returned from outings. :-) Additionally, Bolivar is a super cute little town that is very close to Harper's Ferry. We enjoyed walking down into Harper's Ferry (although be forewarned of that climb back up the hill to Bolivar!). We also enjoyed Snallygaster's Cafe, which is super close to the house, their food and drinks were quite tasty. We also stopped by Rations Spaceport for an escape room adventure and had a BALL! And of course a trip to the area wouldn't be complete without enjoying the views at Harpers Ferry Brewery. All in all, this is a gorgeous place to stay, close to a great couple of towns, and owned by some great people and animals. Grab this place for your next trip to Harper's Ferry!! We look forward to coming back.

Wonderful in every way
Delightfully designed, comfortable, views of river, wonderful owner/host who provided just the right amount of welcome, info, and contact (as did her two dogs, friendly and ready/to-play). The window seat is especially divine. It’s about a mile from downtown, very walkable, but note it’s mostly uphill on the way back. Loved nearby music/bar venue (The Barn). In addition to hiking at MD Heights and all the history of Harpers Ferry, we enjoyed exploring nearby Sheoherdstown.

A beautiful property and a fabulous guest house retreat decorated so lovely. Christie was a fantastic host - personally checking us in and giving us great recommendations for activities and dining. The pets outside on the property were an added joy. We had great BBQ at the Anvil nearby and listened to great music at The Barn. LOVED the view on the Maryland Heights trail and had the BEST coffee at Battlegrounds Coffee. Would definitely come back to this property - it was a memory to cherish,
