2nd stay
We stayed here over the summer and loved it. A bit outdated, but it's great for a weekend on the lake! True old-school lakehouse feel!

Beautiful, Comfy Home
It was a pleasant stay for our family. Beautiful home, very comfy and inviting throughout. We stayed in the winter and even the snow falling on the frozen lake was a site to see. Really looking forward to visiting in the summer/fall months sometime and enjoying the area parks and wildlife.

Beautiful lake house probably very fun in the summer but fall was beautiful too.
Great time! It was relaxing and fun for us including the dog. Just an FYI there isn’t much grass for the dog to go to the bathroom and don’t go down the steps with socks on!!! Haha super slipper! All in all it was a blast!

This is a very special place
My girlfriend and I booked 3 nights for a long weekend getaway had such an amazing time we stayed an extra night. I wasn't really sure what to expect, I never really booked a home before through the internet but Katie was really a pleasure to deal with. She was very responsive and gave us great recommendations for breakfast/dinner. We plan on visiting again next year, so much fun!

Harvey lake, largest lake in PA., who knew!!!. I've lived on a houseboat and now I want to live in a boathouse. Beautiful area, great location, great house. Will go back again and stay longer.

Nice property out at the lake
We enjoyed our stay out at the lakeside retreat. The dock and boathouse were nice. We paddled around in the kayak and did some fishing, but did not catch any fish. The lake views from the boathouse and dock were very scenic and relaxing. The cabin on the other side of the road was set on a steep cliff bank with 3 stories. At the top was a big deck in the back which from the side provided some nice lake views as did the bedroom on the 3rd floor. One nice feature was a big mature pear tree in the back that was overflowing with tasty pears. We did have a few issues that would-be renters should be aware of: 1. The house has no television service although does have a large library of VHS tapes. 2. Due to the vertical nature of the house, the steps are very steep which could an issue for elderly or small children. We had a small dog who took a tumble when trying get down the steps from the second to the first floor. 3. Some parts are rather dated such as the boathouse room. Also the deck off of the third level of the house. Overall though I would say if you are looking for a getting back-to-nature vacation, it is a nice place.

Returning summer guests who cherish our stays at Katie's lake house
Our family returned to Katie's lake house for our 5th consecutive end-of-summer gathering. (See 4 previous very positive reviews by R.B.) What makes Katie's place such a stand-out compared with other lake rentals in northeast PA? The answer is her lake front environment --- a delightful, relaxing piece of the world. It starts with a fenced in, park-like shaded, grassy area, which leads to an oversized dock and boat slip extending out into the lake. There is a "kiddie" area with a sand-digging patch and low steps into lake for young ones; 10 feet deep, fresh water at the end of the dock for swimming or fishing; a two story boat house with a small, enclosed rec room; and a terrific patio overlooking the lake. Katie has equipped the lakefront with sturdy patio table/chair sets and umbrellas, an old fashioned wood swing with shaded cover, and a safe, fenced-in area for dogs. If you are fortunate to have good weather, you will likely spend most of your stay here in this beautiful lakefront setting. For our first time, this year we did not have good weather. (We'll remember this as the week between hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and count our blessings that our weather was merely disappointing, not catastrophic.) So we spent more time indoors in Katie's 3 story, well furnished and comfortable house. The sleeping accommodations work well for everyone, from grandparents to infants, though the steep stairs may be a challenge for some. We brought a baby gate, and Katie graciously provided a crib and baby bath for our West Coast travelers. As usual, the entire house was very clean and well organized, with an old timey feel that we enjoy. No WiFi or TV --- a true escape. Katie's lake house has become our 3-generation family's favorite annual gathering place. Thanks so much for sharing it with us, Katie.

A Great Place
We spent two evenings there mid-week, and it was a wonderful place to unwind. The house is immaculate, though the downstairs had a faint oder of air freshener or perhaps having just been cleaned the room smelled of cleaner. Also, there is a note to not turn off the AC on the first floor, and it was COLD down there. Beyond that, the house is wonderful! We spent most of the time in the house on the second floor, which has a wonderful, cozy feeling to it. There are a lot of notes around, reminding the renter of things, and one was a note not to move the furniture, sitting on the coffee table. The funny thing is that the coffee table is so far away from the seats that it's useless unless it's moved a little closer. Also, the TV faces nothing. In other words, it's difficult not to slightly move the furniture to take advantage of the comfort of the place. We did not move the furniture. We found the notes here and there a bit much. We totally understand no renter would want the furniture rearranged. On the subject of "notes", the helpful hints book is really mostly another going over of the rules. However, I do want to say that the reminders to make sure the doors are locked when you leave did help me to remember. The notes may be important but it was amusing how many there are! Besides the great feeling of the second floor, the third floor with the beautiful layout of the bedroom, and the big windows, was fun. It felt like we were in a high end resort! The property is fun too, with all sorts of stairways, big deck out back, little sitting areas, gardens. Delightful. The best part of the whole experience, and one that sets this home apart is the boat house, as well as the very nice patio and dock. We sat on the dock most of the day, enjoying the sun, the water, the activity on the water. The water itself was great. We had wine and cheese on the upper deck of the boat house in the evening as the sun was setting. Awesome. We did order from the local pizza place one night as well. They delivered ahead of schedule, were very nice, and the food was great. We would definitely return to this place. Thank you.

Fantastic Family Vacation
We are familiar with Harvey's Lake so it was a dream come true to be back at the lake. But, in addition, Katie's property and its amenities added so much to the dream. The boathouse deck, the dock, the swing, the deck behind the house, the charming living room--all provided wonderful gathering places. Although everyone in our party was happy with his/her private space, the third-floor master bedroom was a special delight. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable. The lake water was warm and clear. We didn't need to contact Katie at any point, but I would describe her email correspondence throughout the reservation process and after as personable, warm, and immediate. Her style and comments convey that she really cares about her renters' experience and wants to ensure that we enjoy her family home to its fullest. I know we certainly did! -- Maureen

~*Short Restful Weekend Stay*~
This was a well needed retreat from our busy workday in NY. Even though we stayed 2 weekend nights, we were able to enjoy all the house (and boathouse) had to offer. Katie was very friendly, open, and responsive to any questions we had. We look forward to spending another restful weekend here sometime in the near future! Thank you so much for accommodating us!

A fun getaway by the lake
My family got together at the Lake House for a long weekend, to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. Unfortunately the weather did not comply, but we knew we were rolling the dice for the first weekend of April. The house was very nice and fit our group of 6 very comfortably, with room to gather and eat on the 1st floor by the kitchen, and an even bigger common room on the 2nd floor. Because of the rain, we didn't get over to the boat house or enjoy the deck. Katie, the owner, was very easy to reach and even helped us tremendously on Saturday morning when the hot water system went out! She called the manufacturer and worked out a solution within about 15 minutes. This would be a great "home base" for a weekend or longer trip with activities planned on the lake or in the nearby state parks. Even for an indoor affair, the house is roomy and well equipped. We didn't watch any TV, but it looked like the only one was an old tube-style with a VCR (no DVD). Linens and towels were a mixed bag but ample. The house was clean and in good repair, with all the major appliances, including a small dishwasher and full size washer & dryer, and plenty of plates and flatware. We packed in all of our food so I can't comment on any local eateries. All in all my family had a fun time and were glad to have stayed here. I'd love to see the place later in the Spring or Summer!
