Excellent crash pad for those looking to hike and explore this part of Iceland. It is small, but has everything a couple on the go in Iceland would need.

Perfect Getaway
I stayed here in late march and it was perfect… not busy, northern lights vieable from the front door, and I felt almost as if I had the entire area to myself. A wonderful quiet getaway in a convenient location to the park. Cozy cottage was perfect!

Comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting
The cottage was very comfortable and in a perfect setting to explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It’s not far from the sea, which you can see from the cottage. Good for self-catering or close to an excellent restaurant at the nearby Fosshotel. On a clear night, the stars were amazing, and there were great views of the northern lights! The property manager was very helpful and responsive. Can’t wait to come back!

nice cottage
Nice cottage with a big living room (compared to all other cottages where we were). We covered the camera in the living room as we didn't find that appropriate. Great view on the snaefelljökull and the sea, the latter unfortunately interrupted by some other cottages.

Perfect Location. Something special.
There is something to be said about staying in one area in Iceland rather than bouncing all around and spending too much time on the road. This cabin provides the PERFECT location. Such an abundance and variety of great things to do nearby. I recommend staying a few days here or even a full week. The cabin itself is fantastic for one or two people. All modern conveniences in working order. Thank goodness for the blinds... much needed in June at night. Very clean. Great to have a kitchen as it saves from eating out all the time, and there aren't many restaurants in the area anyway. View from cabin is to die for. Yeah, you gotta clean when you leave but that's a small price to pay for the perfect cabin in the perfect local.

Perfect in all ways
This cottage was perfect for us (2 adults). Cozy, well-equipped and a perfect location to see much of what Snaefellsnes has to offer. We saw the Northern Lights 3 out of 5 nights (the real purpose of our trip), so that was an unqualified success. Jakob was very responsive if we had any questions, and offered to help in any way if needed. I'll just add, 5 days isn't nearly enough time to see everything out on this amazing Icelandic peninsula!

Perfect get-away place
Used this lovely property as a home office base for a week. It was just perfect! Network connection was super stable, no problems with video calls. But even more important, it's calm and relaxing surrounded by beautiful nature. You can easily go on a few hikes after work and immediately have the vacation feeling. In addition we got a perfect Aurora show, just mind blowing. Definitely will come back.

Could not have asked for more!
Wow, how to put into words what a glorious stay my spouse and I had at this property! The house itself was as elegant, warm, and accommodating as we could have wished for, and the location was just consistently stunning. There are incredible views from the living room of the crashing ocean on the tall rocks with the sun on the horizon, impressive snow-covered mountains looming from the opposite side, and a cosy, charming home with truly impressive insulation and so many extra amenities we never knew needed to make our stay even more incredible than it already was (the heated bathroom floor leaps to mind!). We had a wonderful time those four days driving around the peninsula seeing the excessively beautiful and variable landscape and visiting the lovely, small communities in the area. The owner was responsive and maintained clear communication throughout the process, and overall I just couldn't be happier. I deeply hope we get another opportunity to stay in this gorgeous location!

We had a lovely stay
The home had everything we needed and a beautiful view of the glacier outside our front door! We were able to take daily trips to visit other parts of the peninsula and still enjoy the comforts of home in the evening. My only suggestion is that you don't schedule the last day of your stay in the house to coincide with a flight out of Keflavik. To properly clean the space takes some time and effort and the need to rush out and catch a flight makes that a bit stressful (not the way you'd like to end your trip). I'd highly recommend a stay here to anyone who wants to take their time to explore this peninsula.

Amazing!!
We loved staying 4 nights in Hellnar - the cottage is so charming. Our host, Jakob, is incredibly responsive and helpful. The cottage is equipped with everything we needed (toaster, coffee and tea, nutella, tables and plates). It is very clean and far exceeded our contributions. The location is incredible - close to so much good hiking!

Lovely home and fabulous location!
This lovely one bedroom home has everything you need to be self-sufficient and enjoy the beauty of the natural environment. It's located in a little cluster of similar new (but fashioned in the old Icelandic style) homes and is well-kept with picnic table out the back door. Everything was clean (be aware that you do the cleaning when you leave so that it's nice for the next person), spacious-feeling and decorated in a very cozy, homey way. We had a problem accessing the DVD, but Jakob talked us down and we enjoyed their movie collection. Overall, a really wonderful vacation home! Oh, and Jakob was very helpful planning in advance of our trip!

So relaxing and super close to the National Park!
My fiancé and I stayed at the cottage for 5 nights and loved it! We hiked in the National Park every day, it was so beautiful! It was so relaxing coming back to the cottage at night, we cooked every evening and walked into town a few times to experience the cute cafes. Thank you for our wonderful stay!

Location, location
Geographically well located. Well equipped and comfortable cottage. Agreed and understandable method of preparing cottage for next visitors. It would be beneficial to know that it takes about 1.5 hours per load to wash (30 minute cycle) and dry. The linen charge is therefore a bit cheeky considering the visitors do the laundry.
