We stayed at the Bell on 10th July 2021 and what a wonderful time we had. I was brought up in a pub and hotel, spent most of my working life travelling the world and have stayed in lots of different types of accommodation. My favourite is still to stay in a proper English pub, in a lovely quiet village, with great food, beer, a warm welcome and a comfortable room for the night, this is exactly what the Bell is. We arrived early and had a cracking lunch washed down with a few pints of real ale before being shown to our beautiful room “Bumblebee”. The refurbishment of the pub has retained the original features including a log fire in the bar whilst at the same time providing some lovely individually themed bedrooms.
In the evening we took a pleasant walk through the quiet village admiring some of the impressive old buildings, before drinks on the terrace outside the pub. Dinner was superb, scallops followed by a gorgeous beetroot risotto with goat’s cheese topping, a night cap and then a great night’s sleep in a very comfortable king size bed.
Breakfast the next day was a great full English breakfast with good quality butcher’s sausages and real coffee. We felt a ting of sadness that we couldn’t make the stay two nights! The staff were all superb, efficient, helpful and polite really refreshing. What a gem the Bell is, we highly recommend it.
