Beautiful place; a simple but warm and comfortable cabin with a breathtaking view. Great walks, fresh air and wilderness. Eldar and his father were kind, lovely and interesting people. I would love to revisit.

An Idyllic, peaceful spot from which to explore!
We could not have found a more picturesque place to stay on our first visit to Norway. The views from the stone cabin were stunning and the information provided helped us to explore the local area with ease. We enjoyed borrowing the mountain bikes for a short cycle and admiring all the fantastic wood carvings on the way to view the lake. The cabin had everything you needed in order to cook decent meals, however we shopped in Bergen before we arrived, as the local shop is only small. We did have a bit of trouble trying not to set off the smoke alarm when cooking! The bedroom was cosy and the bed was quite small for two adults (one being 6”3), however we still managed to get a fairly good night’s sleep each night. The shower lacked power but was lovely and warm after a rainy hike! We had some fun learning to play Yahtzee and Chess in the evenings and relaxing on the sofa. We would definitely return and are missing the peaceful views already!

Quiet and comfortable place with amazing views
We stayed for 5 days; relaxing, hiking and cycling. We found the Stone Cabin as a fully comfortable small apartment, equipped with all details needed. It was wonderful time for walking and hiking (one longer trip with spectacular views of waterfalls and lakes), having one-day visit to Bergen from here. We do recommend this place for all nature lovers. Joanna & Stefan

Awesome cabin in a stunning place
The stone cabin was a superb place to stay in this part of Norway. Each cabin in the group here is quite private and the stone cabin was suprisingly airy and roomy given it is the smallest one. All the facilities we needed for our stay were there, making it easy to go self-catering. The information Eldar has provided about local walks, ferries etc. were useful, and his farm is the ideal starting to point for a lot of hikes around the nearby national park. Ortnevik itself is only down the road and again has hiking trails and a ferry to cross to the north of Sognefjord that are easy to access. Check-in was easy, the cabin was clean and tidy when we arrived, and Eldar was friendly and welcoming when we saw him. Cannot recommend it highly enough and would definitely return.

Wonderful, cosy and beautiful in every way :)
This was just what my son and I needed for a break away. I had always wanted to visit Norway and it lived up to my dreams. The scenery was beautiful, so peaceful and unspoilt. The little cabin was perfect; so clean, cosy and perfect. Eldar collected and dropped us from the bus stop. He was a lovely, friendly host who answered any questions and was always very helpful. Thank you very much. We hope to come back one day - hopefully we might see the Northern Lights next time :)

Breathtaking, Heavenly - Fantasy World
We stayed in Stone Cabin for 3 nights from November 17th 2017. Eldar picked us from Oppedal ytre bus stop as we arrived from Bergen. Travel is very easy. Views on the way are very beautiful. It's around an hour drive to Ortnevik. We had an amazing time in cabin walking to the beautiful lakes, thick woods nearby, Green Fjord, village farms. The view from our cabin window was so much amazingly breathtaking. We could see gorgeous ice capped mountains right from our windows and kitchen ceiling. We bought our grocery from a superstore in Bergen busstation mall, although there is a local shop in the village which was closed on Sunday and cabin has all the Kitchenwares. Floor heating is really good. Eldar and his parents are very lovely people. We couldn't believe our eyes seeing wonderful Wooden Sculptures by his dad. Wooden Stave Church by the lake is one of my partner's favorite. His dad also invited us for the church music which he was playing and unfortunately we missed it. But surprised by his talent, definitely he is a great personality. It's definitely a fantasy world and no doubt we are excited for our next visit. We recommend this amazing place to all who love staying away from the city's hustle bustle. Thank you so much Eldar and family for all the help :) Best Wishes, Rahul & Vinita

Loved it
Beautiful cabin in the Fjords. We stayed in Stone cabin for two nights and loved it. Beautiful drive from Bergen airport. We purposely drove a longer route back to the airport via Eidslandet which was recommended. We passed a supermarket en route (I would recommend researching opening times ahead of arriving to destination). Easy to find with google maps but not gps in our hire car. I was unsure which cabin I had booked as two were ready when we arrived - this could be clearer! Plenty to do in Ortnevik if you like walking and relaxing. We completed three walks: behind the cabins in the woods, up to the lake (drinking water!) and along the Sognefjord. You would be fine without a car as long as you purchased food prior to arrival. Cabins have a lovely view across the Fjord, heated floors and shower pressure was reasonable too. Would definitely use again and would recommend to a friend.

Fascinating family farm in a stunning location!
Our stay in the Stone Cabin was one of the highlights of our trip! Our family of four loved everything about our few days in Ortnevik-- the views from the cabin, the cats and other animals, the obvious care for the environment shown by the owners, and the general feeling of peace and relaxation. While we did not get to meet Eldar, he gave great information in advance, and we enjoyed very much chatting with his mother and touring the incredible sculpture park that his father has built (especially the magical miniature Stave Church-- really incredible!) The location is remote, but we found it surprisingly easy to coordinate our ferries from the north side of fjord and get there with no problems-- we also really enjoyed the ferry ride and day in Vik (especially delivering mail to tiny towns along the way-- my children were fascinated by this!) I just wish we could have stayed longer-- we look forward to returning!

Peaceful & cosy cabin in a brilliant location for exploring
The cabin was the perfect place to hideaway and relax. We enjoyed long walks exploring the fantastic local scenery - we didn't see another soul on a full day hike. A BBQ while enjoying the spectacular view from the cabin was the perfect way to spend our evenings. Can't wait to return!

Cozy and scenic
We only had 2 nights to spend at the stone cabin (because it was booked for so much of the summer!) and we wish that we could have stayed a bit longer. We found pretty much everything that we needed at the cabin, and when we needed firewood for the grill, I emailed and had some in the cabin in under an hour. The view is unbelievable, and we enjoyed the trails around the area.

Stunning location
These cabins are perfect for what we wanted. Situated in a picturesque location overlooking the valley below. We were able to go for many walks direct from the cabin and also took a day trip on the ferry to Vik. We hired a car from Bergen airport which was handy to help get to and from (and bring food in for our stay). On our way there we drove around the fjord and on the way back took the high pass road instead. There are lots of picnic spots enroute so you can get out and have a walk in amazingly different landscapes. I would love to go back - Highly Recommend

Excellent
We stayed in the stone cabin and had an excellent stay, the views from the accommodation itself are incredible. Eldar was very helpful throughout - specially in providing food for us when we arrived late to find the shop was closed!!! He also set us up with the boat and fishing road for a mini adventure - we didn't catch any fish but probably can't blame Eldar for that! The walks around the area which are listed in the book in the cabin are fantastic, and if hiring a car driving the mountain pass fro Bjordal is definitely worth the time! The entire drive around the fjord is also spectacular! Overall an amazing trip and would recommend to anyone! Matt & Rachel

Toller Aufenthalt
