This nature lover’s retreat sits peacefully high on a hill with a spectacular view of Lake Vernon and the woods around. With a southern exposure and panoramic vista, it’s truly breathtaking in all directions. Located in Muskoka just 15 minutes from Huntsville but a million miles from it all.
A charming 2 storey cottage perfect for mature groups of up to 8 people or 2 families (max 6 adults). Each level has a kitchen, living room, deck, two bedrooms and bathroom. Ceiling fans, gas fireplaces and large windows provide total comfort and a cozy experience. High speed wireless internet and DVD players on both floors allow different age groups to enjoy themselves while at the same cottage.
Lounge around on the deck or soak in the outdoor 6 person hot tub while gazing at the stars.

Take the pathway and stairs down to the lake where you’ll find the 200 sq. ft. dock for docking your boat or jumping in for a refreshing swim. Enjoy the canoes and kayaks with a leisurely paddle or an energetic exploration of the lake. Along the way you'll find your own observation deck with astonishing cliffside views. The observation deck provides you with a secluded spot to sit and relax and gaze at the lake in complete privacy.

At the waterfront, you'll find natural vegetation along the 150 ft of private shoreline and a hard packed sandy/pebble bottom for swimming.

Nice over view of the lake that allows you to capture beautiful pictures to cherish the moments with your friends & family.

Family Vacation
Cottage was spacious which was nice for our family. Trek down to the water needs some work. It is a much longer and more difficult descent then the listing makes it seem. The dock was also partly under water which was disappointing. The condition of the kayaks and life jackets left much to be desired and so we did not use them.

Not Worth your money! Not clean, not functional!
Unfortunately despite the property’s amazing location, the cottage is not well prepared for guests. Overall it was not that clean, closets were disorganized and filled with broken hangers, worn out blankets and old bed covers. The towels were shoved under the sink and were mostly ripped (I washed them all before using). The outdoor furniture and equipment at the dock (including the dock itself) are broken (one of the guests almost lost a toe when their foot got stuck between the two parts of the dock). The Jacuzzi smelled and the water never went up 93 Fahrenheit. The BBQ was so dirty we spent time cleaning inside and outside of it before using the grill. I spare you many other missed details, just imagine an old neglected cottage and you’ll get the gist of it. I tried to resolve the situation with the owner, but unfortunately no discount for the poor quality of the residence was offered and in response to my criticism of them misrepresenting the property they said they would retaliate with a “review” of me. Overall, definitely not worth the rate (which goes pretty steep after fees & taxes) we spent on this property. Take your money somewhere else.

Great stay
Lots of rooms, 2 kitchens, nice place, gorgeous view. It's a lot of steps to get to the water, but it's worth it. It's not quite modern, but it's a decent place. Nice hot tub, maybe a bit too much chlorine. No AC. Water tasted great, there's a washer and dryer, and it's a charming place.

Beautiful Views of Sunrises and Sunsets
If you're looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature and spectacular views this is the place for you. This cottage is also close to Huntsville, Arrowhead Provincial Park and Algonquin Park. We were able to hike both at the cottage and at the nearby parks. Our stay was amazing!!! I would go back again and can only imagine how beautiful it must be during the summer and fall seasons.

Great place to stay and relax
We visited the cottage with our friends and kids and we throughly enjoyed the property. The view is amazing a and we got to enjoy the lake too. The walk to the lake is quite steep but short so we had little to no issue - the kayak and canoe are there to use and we loved it. The place was a little unclean when we got there, and if you are looking for a real comfy bed then you may not get it here but that are the only negatives we had. Overall no issue, quick checkin, great communication and overall good stay.

SHABBY..DIRTY...LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR VACATION
Regardless of the rent one pays, it's reasonable to expect clean facilities and a property in excellent repair with decent linens. Instead we found dirt encrusted screens and window sills, gaping holes in sliding screen door, peeling countertop, a dishwasher missing a side panel, bedding lacking a top sheet under the comforter and insufficient towels including none for drying dishes. The contract (which we did not fill out) asked that we leave the cottage in the condition it was found with provided cleaning supplies despite a cleaning fee.. We were asked as well to take our garbage with us; with no place provided to store our garbage we left a bag in a shed outside and, unfortunately, critters got into it and scattered the contents. We left this as well as another bag in the cottage, advising the owner of this. The highlight was the lake on which it is situated. No mention is made of the steep 80 degree incline down to the lake which took me, an experienced hiker, 8 minutes to descend. The route to the lake is composed of natural paths and stairways that are well placed with a deck enroute taking advantage of the exceptional view. We enjoyed the choice of sitting in the sun or shade as well as the canoes and kayaks. It is unlikely that you would ascend and descend more than once during the day due to the steepness and most would be seriously huffing and puffing on the climb back to the top. We're at a loss as to how an owner can be designated a "premier host". There was no welcoming or hosting provided; no instructions on the use of equipment or information provided on attractions or restaurants in the area. This property needs serious refurbishment coupled with serious cleaning to make it even marginally attractive. Look elsewhere for your next cottage holiday. We have chosen not to seek a rebate from the owner as we note another dissatisfied visitor was still waiting for her refund. We'd like to leave the bad taste in our mouths behind. Janet M Ottawa ON

Stayed at this property on Vernon shores. Really peaceful, nice property with a hot tub. Private dock and lovely clean lake to swim in. Lots of sleeping and dining space . Would recommend

Enjoyed our stay
This is a nice property. Beautiful views. However, it was clean but not super clean. range hood and stove were greasy. Also dis washer was full of dishes upon our arrival although they were clean. The only real drawback on this property is that the waterfront access is quite a walk down...about 15 minutes of steep walk down, rocky in some parts. This walk back up could be challenging for elders and very small kids. However once down it is beautiful but no beach or wading area just jumping off the dock. The Kayaks were fun and the hot tub also made up for the trek down to the water. Overall a very lovely and relaxing stay. The upper balcony was great for yoga and meditation. Also the driveway up to property was very steep as the house is atop a hill.

Great spot for relaxing and hot tubbing - pack all that you need
Cottage is in good condition overall - good view of the water - good privacy. Hot tub was easy to access and enjoy. Couch on main level is remarkably comfortable and provided a great spot for a few naps. Do not expect luxury - it’s a space enjoyed by many - so expect the cottage life mish-mash that makes it charming. For TV - bring your laptop to hook up to external services - despite many attempts by the property manager - we could not access any but basic cable (no DVDs or VHS to view) As a packing note - bring up all your extras. We did not have paper towel, dish soap, kitchen supplies like tin foil, dish towels etc. Only found 3 towels though we had booked for 4 adults. No flat sheets for beds, just fitted sheet and comforter.

Patio with hot tub overlooking beautiful lake. Very good supply of utensils, base kitchen appliances and other basic staples. About 20mn from Huntsville. Lots of room for a family with children and supply of games available.

Great family stay
Even though our drive up the hill in winter was treacherous in the snow...we were helped by the property manager and found everything in working order. I would double check w/propane b4 you go...there was none for our winter bbq but the hot tub was hot the place was clean and it was a spacious place for our family of 5.... Nazbur was so helpful and I would definitely go back trusting him as a very good host

Worst cottage rental ever
This place was deplorable. It was filthy (unswept, kitchen not clean, bed linens ripped, bathroom dirty, used bandaid found in shower, fruit flies in garbage can upon arrival), the hot tub was broken, the fire alarm was ripped out of the ceiling, and the owner was rude and aggressive. The owner agreed to refund us part of our money and I am still waiting to receive the refund.

Great experience at the cottage
My family and our friends had great experience at the cottage. in the Labour Day week. The cottage is clean and well equipped. It is wonderful to have the hot tub, and the bonfire is a great bonus. The walk up and down to the dock could be challenging for some, and it could be slippery when it is wet, but is not hard for someone who like outdoor activities and hiking. We would have loved it more if you had stay there for full 7 nights instead of 5. Martin from Ottawa

Cottage with a view
We had a great week visiting this cottage with friends. The cottage is set up so that 2 families can travel together and have their own space. Cottage was equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the hot tub (the view is gorgeous) and swimming in the lake. The dock is wide enough for hanging out on and the water is deep for jumping off the dock. We enjoyed using the 2 kayaks and canoes provided. It is a long walk down to the dock and the way back up is a hard walk but there are lots of places to rest. The view from the cottage is beautiful though. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice cottage
This cottage was perfect for our family with the two separate living areas. The property is well equipped and we would love to return. Hot tub is a perfect addition. Wifi was great for all the kids. Be prepared for a long walk down to the water. It’s tough getting back up the hill.
