Good place at a reasonable rate. We ended up with a huge room overlooking the garden. The only downside was we could hear the creaking boards from the floor upstairs & I think that guest was trying to get his 10,000 step in before leaving the room in the morning.

Inverurie Stay
Lovely hotel which we used to see the area. Quite plain on the outside , but lovely lounge and dining area with tartan carpet. The staff were all friendly and helpful , especially the receptionist with the dark hair in a plait. The room was a good size and overlooked the garden. The mattress topper on the bed kept moving and creasing making for an uncomfortable sleep. The bathroom was clean but I prefer a shower, as the bath was a bit old. The food we received was not too good. At breakfast there was not a lot of choice if you did not want a hot breakfast. No musli, bran flakes or fresh fruit etc. The yogurts were good. We had 3 breakfasts and they ran out of brown bread, potato cakes and peppermint tea. We had dinner the first night , but I found the chicken and risotto overcooked and dry.

Two night break
Overall our stay was very good. All the staff were friendly and professional and were always keen to help in any way. There was a reasonable choice at breakfast. The hot option could have been hotter and I chose bacon and baked beans from a good selection of hot food but they only gave you one rasher of bacon. We had an excellent evening meal on the first night, the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We did not eat in the hotel on the second night as the menu did not change apart from a different pie for the main course. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

The Strathburn has old fashioned charm. The staff went over & above to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They were very helpful & quick to respond to our needs. The Scottish breakfast each morning was hot off the grill & the dinner we had was very tasty.

The rooms are dated which is not a significant issue but the walls between rooms are paper thin to the point you can hear conversations clearly. The front of the hotel faces a busy road which was very noisy from 6am onwards. The road was very quiet in the evening.

Good-quality, old-fashioned comfort
The hotel is slightly old-fashioned, but that's a plus not a negative. The rooms have lots of character, with all the facilities you need but not in a standardised, soulless format as in so many modern chain hotels. The food is relatively simple but excellent, wholesome and obviously freshly-cooked. The breakfast selection is excellent and the service is cheerful and friendly. You'll enjoy your stay!
