Great hotel, very close to downtown but given that’s literally on the beach, there’s no that much noise.

Holbox ("bosh") first-timers- 3 night
I just typed a book and hotels.com webpage messed up, so all I am going to write now is that I was very pleased with my hotel choice after much homework prior to going and my comparisons with having been now. Room 3 x 3 nights. Beaches are not cleared for you but shallow waters allow walking in clear turquoise water long way once in. Our bathroom floor held standing water with the little design flaw but other than that, pretty much exactly as represented. Saturday night music base heard until 2 AM but that was the only night like that. FYI Sunsets are a thing! Relaxation of island is what you get but not much in the way of cheap fare, like Playa del Carmen, for example. Wifi decent for island. Hotel staff pleasant.

Great place to stay!
Isla Holbox was an amazing experience! I would definitely stay at hotel again. The staff was very helpful and professional- rooms were neat and clean- location was perfect. Complimentary breakfast of fresh fruit, bread and homemade jelly was a great start to the day! And the beach was only footsteps from our door. The previous tips to bring ear plugs are correct as the corner nightspot does play until late in the morning. Groceries, restaurants, town square- all easy walking distance.

Great little hotel right on the beach.
This small hotel is right on the beach and in town. The continental breakfast is very good with a fruit plate home baked bread, Fresh squeezed juice and coffee. Egg dishes and other things are available from the menu. The rooms all face the water. The staff is fantastic:helpful , pleasant, friendly. The grounds are well kept, sand raked every morning. I hope to go back next year.

Rustic Holbox Hotel
Holbox is a rustic island and this hotel is one of the nicer ones. The rooms and beds are small but recently updated. The upper rooms have balconies with a view of the beach. The staff maintains the facilities well. The restaurant has good food and takes credit cards. Everything is on island time so it takes very long time. Plan 2hrs for meals. Breakfast is included but it is just fruit, white toast, homemade jam and juice. You can also order off the menu. The hotel is situated in town. Many people use the beach as the main thorough fare to get from one place on the island to the next, so many people walk by the hotel. The beach is not secluded but they have chaise lounges for guests. We would definitely return to this hotel.

We loved it
We had a great time in Holbox and our stay at Amaite was very pleasant. The staff are super friendly, the location is perfect - from all the beaches we saw, this one was the best. We will definitely come back.

When we arrived they didn't have our room but they offered us a bigger suite for the same price of a regular room for our 3 days. The hotel is a little bit expensive, food and beverages. And the personnel is slow... In the restaurant you have to be very patience when taking the breakfast or dinner, but I can say the food is excellent. The location is excellent. I would say 4.5 out of 5

OK Hotel if you like very hard beds
Checked in and were welcomed with lovely juice drinks and smiling faces. Booked three rooms for six people. The other two rooms had AC that worked but ours never got beyond horrible. Complained to front desk with no results. Resorted to opening windows but was still horrifically stuffy in July. Incredibly noisy on both sides. Overall staff were very nice and assured us things would be taken care of - and they never were. All six of us complained about the beds - it was like sleeping on a rock. When you added in the overwhelming heat and noise, I didn't sleep much at all.

What they don't show you in the pictures
I am old enough to know that when a deal seems to good to be true it probably is. So when we arrived at Amaite hotel, I really should not have been surprised at my disappointment. Let me begin by saying that we paid the hotel for an airport transfer from cancun to the hotel and they were an hour and a half late picking us up. When we finally arrived at the hotel the staff was uninterested in our arrival. We were shown to a very small room that smelled of mold, had dirty floor and walls. The bathroom smelled of urine and despite hotel claims that the bathrooms were recently renovated we saw no evidence of this. The air conditioner was not strong enough to cool even the tiny room and had mold growing around the vent area. It smelled very bad. The bed was hard as a rock! There is no room safe to store valuables and the doors and windows are not secure. The outdoor hallway on the second floor leading to all rooms looks down on a sort of shanty area, sort of dirty and full of discarded items of boxes, furniture and trash. Not a nice view. I can't really comment on the restaurant or beach as we took one look and decided to head down the road to another hotel. As per the hotel cancellation policy we did not receive any refund. So buyer beware of Amaite. It is not worth it even in bargain low season!

Simply chill and great value
This was my second time staying at Amaite. The location is superb if you wish to be close to the pueblito and the ocean. Lovely swimming. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. Hotel manager Eduardo is a welcoming and generous host. He can help you discover the island or arrange for tours etc. From the beach you can see the fisherman come in with their daily catch. We loved the mango jelly served with breakfast and the guacamole is a good sized portion. The room rate is very reasonable - an excellent value.

Beautiful hotel right on beach...but beware!
From what little we saw, it seems like a lovely place to stay, but we cannot give too detailed a review as we only lasted one night due to being kept awake by the loudest clubbing music you can imagine, even with ear plugs in, we gave up trying to sleep and went for a walk until 4 am until it stopped....however, the glorious beach right outside the room became a hang out for drunk clubbers to carry on the drinking! We found another hotel approx 25 minutes walk up the beach, which was far enough away to not hear the music. We have been told that it is not normally this bad as it was a bank holiday weekend, and to be fair, the club did seem quieter for the rest of our stay on holbox, but be warned check this out before booking! The hotel had no problem with us cancelling the booking, and they seemed to act as if it were a more common problem that frustrated them equally. Also other guests didn't seem too bothered about it. The other issue is the back of the hotel overlooks (literally 1.0 metered over a chain fence) a very run down shanty town looking collection of buildings, and people were there working during the day - not exactly a spa experience!

Several days at Amaite
My young adult children and I stayed for four nights at Amaite. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was very nice with the front balcony overlooking the beach. The ocean view was slightly obscured by palms but still very pleasant. The location was within a few blocks of the central town square. The beachfront was raked every morning and kept clean, and beach chairs were always available. The breakfast was simple and light but very good. Overall, no complaints. Not as luxurious as a few of the other Holbox hotels but very comfortable.

Central location with a nice beach!
Couldn't get into our room for the first two nights due to repairs to our room. The staff and owner were very apologetic and worked hard to find us a acceptable alternative hotel for those nights. When we returned to the Amaite for our final four nights we were quite pleased. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean with a nice ocean view. The location is very central so you are close to good restaruants and shopping. The beach is clean with a mild surf. We stayed during Carnival which involves a lot of music and celebrating in the town late into the wee hours. This made it hard to sleep at times but it certainly wasnt the fault of the hotel.

Had a wonderful time at Hotel Amaite and Spa. Very clean and peaceful. Location is perfect on the water, not sure about the old lighthouse though. The beach and the property was awesome. The hotel staff was super helpful everyone was great, special thanks to Edward on the staff, first class person. Don't want to say too many good things because I want the land to stay the way it is now.

Great value close to beach
Located right on the beach and close to town it was a perfect location. I received a warm welcome from the staff who were available to help out whenever I had questions. Hotel Manager Eduardo is from Holbox and passionately shared interesting and useful information about the island and activities. Simple, clean and well located this hotel is a very good value.

The best part is the service, they are always there ready to help when need it. It is a small place, but in a nice location and in front of the beach.
