Charming cosy detached 3 bedroom property nestled in the sleepy village of Cliff in Uig on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, making it the perfect place to explore, with a choice of spectacular beaches nearby.
The property is only a few minutes walk from Cliff Beach and Traigh Bhorgaidh Beach, 1.5miles from Reef Beach, and 4.5miles from Uig Sands (Ardroil Beach) where the Lewis Chessmen, 12th century Viking chess pieces were found (replicas can be viewed in the Uig Heritage Centre). Cliff Beach is also a favourite of surfers, and the village is ideally located for exploring the many delights of the Isle of Lewis and its neighbouring Isle of Harris.
The area is also a haven for wildlife. As well as local livestock such as sheep and cattle being commonly seen throughout the district, guests may be fortunate to see majestic wild deer within the village.
There is also a wide variety of bird species including eagles (Golden and White-tailed), falcons, heron, cormorant, and the cuckoo and corncrake, to name a few. Local sightseeing and wildlife boat trips are also available, and guests may be fortunate to spot pilot whales, orcas, seals and dolphins (nearby boat trips via Uig's Seatrek Hebrides). The abundance of nearby lochs are also a favourite for those who like to fish.
During spring, the sounds of newborn lambs is commonly heard, whilst during late summer, the nearby stunning local machair offers a carpet of flowers attracting birds and insect life, with yellow flowers dominating at first which then fade into reds, whites and blues. In addition, the spectacular Northern Lights are also visible at certain times of the year.
The local community shop is well stocked and features a Post Office and petrol pumps. Nearby is the Uig Sands Restaurant, which is one of only 8 restaurants in Scotland to have been awarded Tripadvisor ‘Best of the best’, and has also been ranked among the best 1% in the WORLD. Local cafes, Uig Community Café and The Edge Café, both serve lunches, tea, coffee and cakes. You may also wish to visit the Uig Museum, and the Abhainn Dearg Distillery, the small local whisky distillery.
The area is described by many as having a 'special feeling' to it. So why not visit and live life in a different, slower pace, and relax, take a well earned break, and breathe in our fresh Atlantic coast air.
