I booked two nights at the Hampton inn before the storm Milton hit. I live in evacuation area in St Aug. I didn't leave for Helene. No power 2 days. Hot Hot days.
A hotel was packed. I booked a disability room because I had had spine surgery at Mayo 4 weeks prior and couldn't use a bathtub. The bathroom was great. Walk in shower. Grab bars if I needed them. A nice selection of soaps.
I did ding it one star. The room smelled very musty, damp. I left my stuff went downstairs. And the receptionist said we're booked. There are no other rooms but I'll send maintenance to your room ASAP. Maintenance was at my room before I got there. He walked in and said immediately this room's damp. But he got down on his hands and knees. we didn't find any damp areas. He brought some kind of ionizer. I don't know if it made a difference or if I just slowly got used to it. But I didn't even notice it in the morning. Plus the ionizer
made a soft fan noise. Like.
They also were having trouble with the TVs. The channels were all in a different order than the guide. The receptionist said it was DirecTV and there was nothing she could do about it. Most of the channels were there. Just not where they should be. But no weather channel at all. I was amazed at how quiet the place was. It was full of children and dogs. I saw them in the hallway. But didn't hear anything when doors were closed. Storm was not bad. I canceled the second day. Hampton cancel the charge!
