Sept 2024 Stay
This house was booked for six girls who wanted to relax by the pool and enjoy time together. Upon booking we asked about possible early check in since flights were earlier then check in time. After multiple attempts we were finally told we could not check in early as there were previous visitors and the cleaners needed 4-5 hours to clean the property. Fine no problem. When we got there it stunk so bad we couldn't stand it, the fridge didn't work, all of the bedding smelled like sweat and clearly wasn't sanitized, there were stains on the beds and one girl even found crumbs and a full piece of candy in her bed with sugar everywhere. They had a repair man come out and fix the fridge but it never got cold enough for our food and the smell was horrid. The hot tubs didn't work and were filthy, the kitchen sink sprayed everywhere anytime we tried to use it, the pool was dirty and didn't smell of salt or chlorine so no idea what chemicals were used but likely unsanitary, one shower spit so much rust when turning on there's no way it's been functional for some time, outside door lock was broken, pool had mass amounts of wasp and bee hives everywhere so we were constantly dodging them, just overall not even close to worth the price for what was supposed to be a "luxury place to stay". Overall, this house wasn't clean. Communication was dodgy at best. We were not happy with our stay even though we made it a good time regardless.

Neither hot tub worked. The outdoor one was empty & the indoor one was cold water. There is poison ivy growing up the fence near the house. Both grills look like junk inside. The fridge was locked at 34 degrees & barely kept food cold. One of the rooms is in a shed & the sheets stunk like mildew. You have to walk outside & down stairs to get to one of the rooms & the bunk bed room. The house smelled like sewer. We reached out to the host worried about it being a gas or sewer leak & he said it didn’t smell like that earlier. We went to buy a carbon monoxide detector just to be safe.

Disappointing overall
The property is not at all as advertised. There were no working hot tubs (listed 2), house and pool were dirty, bathrooms didn’t have toilet paper - we had to buy our own. There were a lot of broken things around the house from the front door lock, to windows and chairs. The sliding glass door lock is broken so you aren’t able to actually fully lock the house while you’re out. The house smelled like sewage, we did buy candles and air fresheners which helped some. Really poor communication from property owners despite multiple attempts. I was told I’d receive check-in info and house rules; never did, again, even after multiple attempts. I did get to speak to someone once to voice our complaints but was given no resolve and they never called back as they said they would. There is zero care put into this place. Would absolutely NOT stay here again.

NOT a Luxurious Oasis
We got to the property to find one of the bedrooms in a shed out back. There was not a bathroom out there for those people to use. Then we tried to use the main kitchen sink, but the hose was broke and water sprayed all over the kitchen. I contacted the host and he blamed previous guests and asked us to use the other much smaller sink, so that is what we did. Then we found that both jacuzzi tubs that are advertised were not functioning. Big disappointment and looked like they hadn’t been working for awhile. We went to grill and both grills were rusted over and parts falling from them. They were not able to be used. There were wasps/bees flying all over the property. Clearly nests all over that were not taken care of. Stains on some of the bedding. A broken window, doors that wouldn’t lock from the outside. There was a fridge that was broken and not clean. The fridge that was there to use did not cool food properly. You also couldn’t get water or ice from it. The listing promises luxury and all of these amenities that did not work and could not be used. This house was terrible, the only saving grace was the pool. Even then the fountains and features don’t work properly. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Property is not well maintained and host doesn't really care about maintenance and upkeep.
I'm warning you, don't book this place for 2 major reasons 1) Host is lacking in service and professionalism (see comment responses) and 2) the property is really run down despite the pictures. For context, I've rented multiple large homes for our group and never had a "luxurious" property this poorly maintained, almost deceptive & a host who seemingly doesn't take pride in upkeep of their property & poor service for their guests. KEY REASONS TO AVOID 1- INCORRECT LISTING DETAILS - I missed this in the reviews stupidly but it says 9 bd when it is in fact 7 bd. Plus, one bedroom is an outside separated unit like a "shack". When I brought to the attention to the host, they didn't sincerely apologize, or offer anything, and blamed VRBO. 2 - POOR COMMUNICATION - Host is international and doesn't respond promptly. Didn't send check-in instructions prior to check-in and after multiple attempts to ask what was going on, finally responded after I complained to VRBO and called multiple times. 3 - UNPROFESSIONAL - I booked July 3 - 7 and then they said it was already booked on the 4th and I would need to cancel or accept the new change. While they offered some discount for this error they also said we could check in early and late checkout, which they didn't honor. 4 - PROPERTY NOT WELL MAINTAINED - broken hinges, cracked window, bugs, smell, dirty sheets, old images, dirty hot tub,etc

We had 16 of us that had an incredible weekend at this gorgeous home for the 40th reunion of our college pledge class. The main areas of the house had more than enough room for all of us to gather and catch up. There are many, many bedrooms that were found in all parts of the house that worked well for our group. It was such a fun weekend with many new memories that were made.

Property Not as Advertised
When we arrived at the property it had not been cleaned. We were able to contact the owner, and he stated that he had forgotten to have the property cleaned and he would send a crew right over. Unfortunately, it was dinner time and we didn't want to wait for 60 minutes before we could serve our family of 12. So, we cleaned up the kitchen, threw away the trash, and began to move in and get dinner ready. The cleaning crew eventually arrived and cleaned the bedrooms and bathrooms. We saw them outside, but we weren't sure they sanitized the hot tubs. The following items/amenities were either broken or not working as advertised: The inside hot tub, the sauna, at least one TV, the water heater, the outside cooking grills, the fire balls, the back sliding glass door doesn't lock (a safety hazard), the 1 smoke detector (a safety hazard), the ice maker, the refrigerator doesn't cool correctly and leaks water, the drink cooler is frosted over, the outside bedroom door does not lock from the outside, most of the lamps need working bulbs, the basement door does not lock from the outside, one bathtub drain doesn't stay closed, the main shower leaks, the air hockey table doesn't work. We didn't try the game system. The listed bedroom and bathroom setup is inaccurate. This is NOT a "Luxurious Oasis in Kansas City." It's more like "lipstick on a pig." The host promised to refund the cleaning fee, but he has not done so and has stopped answering our texts and calls.

Lots of space with a great pool!
The space was wonderful! We were able to spread out and sleep comfortably. The house was beautiful. There were some amenities that were out of order (e.g. the outdoor hot tub) which I realize happens in a house that offers so many - but a heads up of what's working and what's not would have been good. Overall it was a great experience at a beautiful property. Thanks so much!

The house was in a good location for the zoo and Workds if Fin. The pool was very nice for us. I booked and had to pay 13 mos. In advance. The outside hot tub wasn’t working and looked like not for awhile. The inside one would warm up but jets hardly worked. Sauna wasn’t working. I was uneasy with the the outside basement bedrooms. No smoke alarm was working. Nice setup but I would have liked an inside exit. The king bedroom was nice but it’s in an old dog kennel. Decor was pretty but much was in the way. We missed that both garbage disposals weren’t working. This needs to fixing up.

The home was beautiful, perfect size for our extended family of 12. It would have been better with dinner seating for 12. We had plenty of plates, glasses, and flatware. Drink refrigerator was a nice plus. The cook top needed a lighter for 2 of the burners, but the double oven was nice. We also appreciated the paper products and garbage bags available. The bedrooms were all nice, and everyone found the beds to be very comfortable. The number of towels and hand soap were appreciated. The pool was enjoyable, but the 2 hot tubs and sauna were a disappointment. The outdoor spa was apart for repairs, and the indoor spa had no workable controls. The sauna door was stuck in the closed position, and we couldn’t figure out how to work the control panel on the wall. The house is beginning to show wear: several doors were difficult to open and/or close, neither garbage disposal worked, kitchen cabinets had loose hinges, and the lower dishwasher rack was broken. The swingset and trampoline were attracting features, but the grass in that area seemed like it hadn’t been cut in a couple weeks, which discouraged the kids from using that space. We did use the fire pit one evening and the outdoor fireplace another evening, so those were nice outdoor features. There was a cloth tree swing in the back and a round tree swing in the front, and the kids really enjoyed them. Poison Ivy by the front swing needs to be removed. Thankfully nothing ruined our trip. We still had a fun time.

Fantastic Property for Large Groups
This place was immaculate in ever sense. The decorations were beautiful, the living spaces were large and comfortable, and the kitchen was top notch. We loved the game room, and the indoor sauna and hot tub were fantastic. There are so many beds I lost count, and even the bunk beds are queen sized, so everyone gets a comfortable place to sleep. I highly recommend staying in this VRBO, and people from my group were already talking about coming back later this year.

There are not a lot of properties large enough for our extended family for rent in Kansas City, so we were thrilled to find this house. We thought the rules were pretty much common sense and very reasonable. Only thing to be aware of is that the house is 7 bedrooms, not 9 as VRBO advertises (I believe this is a clerical error by vrbo). Appreciate the prompt replies of the owners and the well-stocked house.

Great house - not as clean as expected
The house was exactly as described, a nice house with great amenities. I had to request the check in instructions twice, after that they were prompt with my inquires. Like others I got the lengthy list of 'rules' as part of the check in process. Most of the rules are expected. But this house being in a quiet neighborhood and no expectation of being outside after 9:30 pm may be a deal breaker for some. I would expect the owners to disclose that before a nonrefundable booking. Given the expectations on cleanliness of the guests, I was surprised at the amount of stains on the couch, smudges on the walls, dirty windows, dirt in the pool/hot tub. Wasn't something that ruined our trip, but when you have such a rigid list of rules, you should be delivering a nearly ideal property. There is a smell in the house, there are a LOT of plug-ins throughout the house. I assume trying to cover up a musty smell throughout. I noticed it right away, but didn't say anything to my guests hoping they wouldn't notice... they all noticed and said something. I was surprised there wasn't a list of "how-to's" like there are in other places I’ve stayed. I understand they want to be sure you do the fire bowls correctly (and under their supervision), but how to turn on the water fall/shut the main bathroom hot tub jets off (they run all the time) would have been nice.

We had a great time. The only suggestion I would have is kitchen towels. We did not have any towels to dry our hands on and no drying rack to dry the dishes on. We also thought the rules were pretty strict and made us feel worried about EVERYTHING. I would ask for a copy of the rules before booking. Overall we had an amazing time and everything was perfect. The owners were very nice to work with and allowed an early check in and always answered when I had a question. We would go back if we had the chance.

My husband and I booked and paid for this listing in May 2022 for a group trip with friends to take mid August 2022. The listing was beautiful, the video was amazing. We were all VERY excited. Then an email came from hosts Lucas & Ana 1 week prior to our arrival that was "harsh" & unusual. This email was long and contained many new rules for their property. For example: "if you or your group are loud, disruptive and like to use cuss words any time day or night, this house is not for you". I've never had a host decide 7 days prior our large group would not be allowed to curse "day or night". Mind you, our group age primarily made up of couples in their upper 40's. As you can read in another review, the pool is frustrating. You have to leave your group, FaceTime Lucas (yes, only FaceTime, no text) for another code to a room you are not allowed access to. This room runs the pool lights, waterfall, fire bowl, torches, etc. This door has no handle, has a camera and is a complete disaster! You literally are standing on things and trying to reach the panel to turn items on/off. I showed host Lucas on FaceTime the mess. His response was "throw it to the other side". The pool was not clean. We found glass pieces in the pool. 3 people in our group got cuts on their feet. The propane tank is empty, you have to bring your own. Not very travel friendly. This is something that is not disclosed in the initial listing either. There is also a $17/towel charge for any stains. They state "do not use the towels as toilet paper or makeup remover". There is marble flooring throughout most of this home. It is EXTREMELY slippery. It is also located in the shower. Be very careful. Not kid friendly in my opinion. The final straw was the EXTREMELY unkind words host Ana texts to us. For example "You are stupid and rude ". I have many screenshots of Ana being condescending & threating via text. This is not a property I would suggest to anyone based off our personal experience with the hosts. The list of new rules you receive prior to your arrival that are NOT in the original listing is long & odd.

Ladies' Weekend
This amazing property was even more beautiful than shown in the pictures. We were a group of 17 women who gathered for a retreat, most meeting for the first time. The house was beautifully appointed, and the pool, deck, and hot tub areas were absolutely amazing. It was PERFECT for a staycation for a group of mature adults. If you're traveling from out of town, bring additional toilet paper, paper towels, toiletries, firewood, propane for the fire pit and grill., but all of these can be obtained within a block or two. One of the bedrooms was located in a building outside, off the kitchen, and the bunk room and another bedroom could only be accessed by going down a set of stairs outside. Also, if you have small children, be aware that there are marble floors (slick) and lots of breakable items on glass tables. Our hosts were quick to answer any questions we had, and it was a beautiful, relaxing weekend. There have already been comments from some of the ladies who would like to return at some point and meet again at this beautiful residence. For us, it was the perfect venue!! Many thanks to the owners/hosts!!

Family Celebration Weekend
This is a large beautifully decorated home that worked well for our family of 23 to gather. The heated pool, hot tubs, patio with fire place, fire pits, dining and seating area plus large yard provided something for everyone. Inside large open living, dining and kitchen areas were great. The property owner was easily accessible by phone, text and facetime to answer questions. However, it would have been helpful if the property description had stated that, accessible only by an exterior staircase, one of the king bedrooms was located downstairs along with one room that contained all of the bunkbeds. Although just outside the kitchen, a second king bedroom is in its own detached building. Overall we enjoyed our time together in this home.
