Kalograta Villa is a one storey, 2 bedroom villa nestled into the hillside above the picturesque and popular harbour of Fiscardo.
Spectacular sea views can be enjoyed from the villa's large verandah and the graduated terraces in the garden below.
The house is totally in keeping with the area; it has high wooden ceilings, locally quarried stone floors and traditional wooden windows and shutters.
The villa consists of a large living and dining area with an open plan kitchen. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en suite shower rooms.
The living room and bedrooms all open onto a large terrace that commands breathtaking views over the nearby island of Ithaca and Lefkada, with the mainland mountains of Epiros in the distance.
There is a pergola with built in seating at the far end of the terrace, providing a lovely shaded area for relaxing and socialising. Additional shade on the sunny part of the terrace is provided by parasols, so there is plenty of choice! The stars on a clear night from the terrace are phenomenal.
Below the main terrace is a mature garden consisting of two ancient olive trees that provide welcome natural shade during the hot summer, colourful oleander bushes, scented honeysuckle and jasmine plants, yucca trees plus a lemon tree. A gradually sloping stone pathway meanders down from the house to the private pool terrace. The pool measures approximately 8x4 metres, there are sun beds and parasols on the terrace.
The villa sits below the road and has a sloping driveway. There is parking on the road if you prefer not to use the drive. Whilst taxis are plentiful, hiring a car really opens up the possibilities of exploring the area.
The villa is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute stroll from the local village with 2 shops and several places to eat. Occasionally there’s a traffic jam caused by the local shepherd moving his sheep from one area to another!
Fiscardo with its picturesque harbour is perfect for a sundowner or meal ( there’s some fabulous restaurants), you can watch the super yachts and flotillas arriving in the late afternoon. There’s two supermarkets and a variety of shops, a chemist and two bakeries. The doctor is also based here. You can hire small boats to explore the coast or go over to Ithaca or book to go on a Marine Adventure and if you’re lucky, swim with turtles.
Assos also has a tiny harbour with tavernas and a castle perched on the isthmus above the village. The drive along the coast road rivals the famous Amalfi coast drive ...watch out for the goats who live on the bend! You can stop to admire the famous Myrtos beach with its turquoise water from here.
There are several beaches around north Kefalonia, often small coves with a nearby taverna. A few have sunbeds and parasols to hire. They are mostly pebble beaches which makes for clear water and great snorkelling.
Villa Kalograta has been advertised on VRBO for some years now.
We stayed here for a month in 2019 and fell in love with it. Not only are the views spectacular but it is so comfortable and well planned. We were delighted to find it was for sale ...and the rest is history!
We hope you love staying there as much as we do. Please note that in 2024 the Greek Government has imposed a Climate Resilience Tax. This is €10 per night per booking ( not per person). This is included in the price for 2025 onwards.
