Hi there and welcome to our Bonnie -vie! She's anchored about 3/4 mi from the base marina in a beautiful cove. The BOAT STAYS anchored. The wildlife is jaw dropping, and often times you'll have manatee or dolphins stop by for a visit! The boat is stocked with everything you'll need) coffee maker, coffee, filters, water, seasonings, olive oil, etc... You'll have a smooth running generator to power everything (8hrs run time/day) and a propane grill to cook up your favorite steak or lobster! There is running water with a shower (not heated). Fishing off the back has proven to be super, for the rite fisher person of course. For a little more money, we have several motorized dinghy options available for you that make back and forth easier, and exploring super fun! Please see pictures in description. there Is a dbl kayak included for exploring the area. Thanks so much for your interest! We really look forward to seeing you soon!! Rustic but fun
My wife and I had a great time staying on Mark’s boat. The description is accurate, it’s a somewhat “roughing it” stay. This was a great stay, but would definitely be more enjoyable in cooler weather. The AC at night was a life saver, but during the day it was definitely hot. Sitting up top at night, feeling the breeze, hearing the water, and looking at the stars was wonderful though, and worth it. You definitely want some bug spray though.Mark was always quick to respond and help when needed.

25th Anniversary Getaway
My husband and I enjoyed our 2 night stay on the Bonne Vie (which means "Good Life" in French). It was the good life for us - he was able to fish off the back and I read books on the front of the boat. When it got too hot we could jump in the water to cool off! There are lots of great restaurants to try in Key Largo and we took a cooler of snacks for the boat. There are mosquitos in the evening - but we enjoy camping (and there are always mosquitos when camping) so a little bug spray did the trick! Mark was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed - including a sweet anniversary gift! If you enjoy the outdoors and adventures then you will enjoy the Bonne Vie!

If you are looking for a great outdoor venture, love Mother Nature and want the best outdoor water experience, this boat is for you. It is like staying in an old cabin on the water and will discriminate the typical hotel stay. The fishing, kayaking to the tiki hut through the everglades to Manatee Marks Private Secret TikiHut! It will blow your mind!!! Traveling by way of dinghy to the Manatee Bay Beach was additionally, a fabulous, one of a kind experience!! Pick Manatee Mark’s Brian he’ll give you the best local restaurants an bars with bands and ask him about Cupcake Island!!!

It was unique. And beautiful. And just as described.
Wondering what to make of the mixed reviews on this one? This is a unique & beautiful stay, just as described in the listing. It's also NOT fancy, and NOT for everyone, also as described. My wife & I stayed aboard for 2 nights. I'm the rustic tent-camping type, and I loved it. My wife is the city-slicker type, and she did not. Both were as expected. We both agreed the location in a quiet cove was perfectly calm. We both loved sitting on the water thru the evening hours, just relaxing. I also loved the simplicity and no-frills aspect of the stay. There was a chair. And shade. Mark was early, kind and accommodating. Linens were clean. Generator fired right up to provide morning coffee. Who could ask for anything more? My wife. She's not high-maintenance, but she has standards. Like a standard flush toilet. And better bug protection. And real running water. And normal electricity. And... you get the idea. Day one was lovely. After that, she couldn't wait to get back to shore! So, you'll probably either love it or hate it, because it's just like Mark's description on the listing. If you like peace and don't mind rustic... If you have low expectations for your accommodations... If you're comfy sleeping in old boats or RV's... If you liked Mel Gibson's camper on the beach in Lethal Weapon... You'll love this place! If you don't... reread the listing. Thanks again, Mark, for a stress-free stay!

Camping on the water with million dollar views
We had a great time staying on the boat while down in the keys for scuba certification. Mark communicated with us well. We recommend adding the dinghy rental to your trip to get back and forth to land and to cruise around and sight see. The cove was quiet and very peaceful at night. We put the mattress outside and slept under the stars (and mosquito net, provided). For a no frills adventure, this was great for us! Thank you

It’s like Mark says, the boat is not a hotel, she is Quant and rustic, quiet and peaceful with opportunity to fish all day long. Being on the water to absorb nature and the creatures of the sea was a wonderful experience. The owner Mark was very accommodating to our needs.

Our stay was amazing! Our host was super friendly and communicated with us before we got there to make sure everything was good, as well as checking in everyday to see if we needed anything. He also suggested great places for us to eat. We loved staying on the boathouse and exploring on the dingy boat😁 this has been the best vrbo experience we have had! We will definitely be back. First of all, we will miss this boat. Thank you Mark, for offering this experience to the average persons. My wife and I enjoyed everything about our stay. The description was accurate. Come prepared, this is a boat, not a hotel. The views at sunset were amazing (we weren't up early enough for the sunrises)! Dolphins showed up at the boat. How cool! Mark was attentive with wonderful local suggestions on places to visit. We would highly recommend renting the dinghy. At this point we have stayed 2 weeks on the Bonne-Vie and can't wait to return.

Not as advertised
The boat is in a fabulous location. Mark really tried hard to accommodate us but seemed put out when we asked for things promised in the booking. We were prepared for this to be like camping on the water, but much was not as expected. Mark was not ready for us at the prearranged check-in time (which was after the posted available check-in time). The generator wasn't working the first night and was temperamental throughout, with an 8 hour run-limit (so no AC, hotplate, microwave, coffeemaker without generator). The camp potty (not the boat toilet as in the photo) overflowed and he did empty it, but the floor wasn't cleaned. Grill was tricky to use and the kitchen isn't equipped for even boiling pasta (only pan is a small skillet). Doors don't shut all the way and handle is broken. Ran out of water overnight (after extremely limited, careful use during our stay). No fridge - just a cooler with ice, which wasn't refilled frequently enough (as promised) to keep food from spoiling. And the outboard motor on the boat we paid an extra $50/day for kept quitting out on us (basically essential to access the property but not included in price of stay). It's a great spot, just come prepared and know what to expect.

Wonderful experience to stay out on a boat anchored in the shallow bay, feeling like you are in the middle of stars and fish and vast sky. Mark is chill and super helpful, the boat is modest but has what you need and is in a beautiful location. Fun to putt around in the dinghy around the mangroves, be at your own pace out on the water. Unforgettable (great) experience.

Exactly what we were looking for!
We showed up nearly a day too early due to flights, Mark was so communicative and thoughtful, that the morning we arrived, he already had something in mind to offer us as an alternative to catch up on sleep. When we were finally settled into the boat we booked, he had everything set up for us and we were ready to go. He offered an entertainment option right off the cuff, which was awesome. Jetlagged, we decided to stay behind. I had some user errors with the motor on the dingy that was provided for us, immediately Mark was to our rescue. He was amazing. We came into this with a mindset of camping on a boat, which is exactly what we were looking for, but we got so much more out of it. We were able to relax with the sounds of the water, the sunrises and privacy. It was excellent! I hope to make this a reoccurring trip going forward. Mark, your cheese curds are coming!
