Annual Maui family holiday
The air conditioner in the second bedroom (where both my girls were sleeping) was broken. The owner was quick to reply when I told her about this after our first night. She did get someone to look at right away but unfortunately it needed a new part and was not fixable for the remainder of my holiday (until the day before we were scheduled to leave). So essentially, my girls had to sleep in a stuffy hot room for this holiday.There are 2 other AC units in the front room and main bedroom, but they obviously don’t work for the second bedroom (we tried!!!)It’s a very small room but otherwise serviceable. Sliding doors are not at all soundproof, but this didn’t bother us.I expected the owner to give a discount for our stay that reflected the fact that we didn’t have the unit that was advertised, and that it was not comfortable for us at night due to the AC failure. After SEVERAL communications back and forth, the owner only offered 1 night refund which I felt was not really fair given that we rented for 10 nights and the inconvenience that this caused us. (I would never rent anything without full AC on Maui). She offered to provide a fan and a dehumidifying cooling unit, but I declined as I actually just wanted real AC!! The owner tried to offer a fan (the broken AC unit was essentially a fan already and we were using it!), and a “dehumidifying cooling unit”. I declined because these are loud and don’t really cool the way AC does. The room is also tiny so I have no idea wher
