The pictures on the website show the place to be bigger and better than it is! Was asked to pay for the stay even though we had already paid yourselves, they slated Expedia over costs and bookings. The reviews all said friendly hosts!? There was no welcome drink, we found them quite antisocial overall. There was nothing really close to the property so needed taxis everywhere. We booked 2 week, however moved after only one!! I think that says it all don't you ?? Would NOT recommend this place at all!!!

Really nice hotel!
Really nice hotel and staff. The air con was a bit noisy and the beds were hard (like everywhere in Thailand), but the hotel was fabulous. And the pool..! Fantastic. Took about 40 minutes to walk to the beach, so some form of transportation is recommended.

Sanctuary in Koh Samui
Staying at Tropical Palm was one of the few redeeming qualities of Koh Samui. The hotel grounds are beautiful and peaceful, up in what remains of the lush flora of the island with gorgeous views of the palms. My room was huge with what must've been a king-size bed, fully and generously furnished. Shower was indulgently large which I loved. Rooms are further equipped with a fridge and kettle and complimentary beverages replenished as used. Rooms are cleaned as often as requested and cleaned to a consistently good standard. The location of the hotel may be problematic for those with mobility issues as it is about 4/5km to the market and beach but I enjoyed the walk every morning and evening and the owner never failed to ask whether I wanted a lift into town. Only issue is that shower water was only hot on 2 out of 7 days, when I reported this on 4th day I was told that temp had been altered due to someone saying it was too hot. This meant that turned up at best I had tiny burst of luke warm water but generally tepid. Overall, enjoyable stay highly recommended.

Phenomenal for the price
I can't say enough good things about this place - but keep in mind, I'm not a vacationer, I'm remote working. I'm also not looking to party. I'm looking for serenity with everything I need, muai thai training, healthy food, beautiful nature, fantastic air, silence, bands and music clubs, and all the charm of a small but fully functional town within reach. The hotel is a bit hard to find, but once I got here, I actually skipped out and lost cash on not going to a pre-reserved much more expensive hotel and decided to stay here the whole week. It's economical because the owners, what I've collected to be three older Brits, run it like a English bed and breakfast. There are certain times when they serve food, certain times when they are on call, and certain times where they close up shop. It is fantastic, and for the price, phenomenal. The wireless is a little shifty but hey, if you have a smartphone and a personal hotspot, and Thailand's cell services charge $1000 bhat (like $30) for unlimited data for one month, I don't think you really have a problem. It's faster than wireless internet in a lot of the fancier place anyway.

Great place to relax and unwind
Stayed 22-Feb-2015 in Deluxe pool access room for 1 night without breakfast. Doors from room opened to a balcony with a couple of steps to the small pool. No hair-dryer in room but one was provided by reception. Set high in the mountains, with great views, was a shame we only stayed one night. Lamai town is not walk-able (especially coming back up the hill) however Lamai-temple area is probably walkable. No taxis passing by, You'll need a motorbike which we hired from the hotel at 200 Baht. Receptionist and owner both very helpful. Shower was very hot at one point, and I didn't like the dingy bulb in the bathroom. Didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food, however we were unable to get a late check-out at it was full ! Hotel-owner ordered a taxi for us to Lamai town on checkout and agreed a price of 200Baht. Driver at our destination demanded an extra 100Baht, however we told him the price was already agreed with the hotel owner and paid 200Baht. I would definitely stay again.

Great hotel!
Great hotel! A bit out of the way but that's great as your not in the centre with music pumping out all night! The hotel uses a bike shop that rent scooters out for 200 baht a day so it's easy to get around and the bikes are in great condition! Hotel is in good condition and has a great pool! Overall brilliant stay!!

Well Maintained and Extremely Friendly Hotel
This Hotel is a little off the beaten track, BUT DON'T be put off by this. It is only a 15 minute stroll to the town or the owners will quite happily drive you the short way. It is in a quiet area and is peaceful. The hotel itself is well laid out and the way the pool, bar and restaurant area are presented leads to a very cosy atmosphere and you don't have to go far for anything on the resort. The rooms are on 2 floors in an "L" shape overlooking the pool, bar and restaurant yet they are not imposing as on the other side of the resort there is nothing overlooking the pool etc. An excellent sun trap. The staff are the friendliest I have met on my several trips to Samui. They are always smiling, happy and will always talk to you. They are very helpful. The resort is extremely well maintained and is in very good order. It is clean all over and the rooms are more than adequate in size with good balconies overlooking the pool area. The 2 business partners, one Irish and the other British, have all the knowledge you need regarding Samui and really are more than helpful. Excellent value for money.

Fabulous!
Fantastic staff providing excellent service, from those who help to clean the rooms, cook the food available on the ample menu, or Paul and Dave who will provide advice, suggest things to do and provide lifts into town to avoid taxi fees. Everything you need for a great stay in a beautiful location - just into the mountains, with a picturesque beach nearby. The room and hotel were clean and well maintained and the pool lovely. Koh Samui is a beautiful island, friendly and accommodating.

Quiet, peaceful with free transport to town
We arrived by Lomprayah ferry and took up their offer of 150thb per person transfer to anywhere on the island. (This compared to 1500 or 1200thb for taxi at the pier.) We were warmly greeted and offered a choice of rooms. My bag was carried upstairs by the female staff member. We stayed 4 nights here in the peaceful surrounds on the outskirts of Lamai Beach. Clean rooms with excellent wifi in room and good, hot rain shower. Pool was lovely and sun lounges always available. We took up the offer of free transport to and from town - we went down twice some days, for a swim in the morning, and dinner in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. We walked down to the beach one morning but found it to be 30 minutes or more. It was a lovely stroll through the local neighbourhood, but got a little hot. I found the bed a little lumpy and hard, so we were offered a mattress topper which solved the small problem. Excellent! If you are wanting to be right at the beach, then this hotel is not for you. However, we didn't want the noise and lights of the bars to intrude on our peaceful getaway, so it was perfect for us. The food was good, and the owners Dave and Paul are keen on making your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. This is a lovely place

Basic, but pleasant
Tropical Palm Resort and Spa was a nice hideout at Koh Samui. We only stayed for one night before moving to Koh Pha Ngan. The hotel was nicely laid out with a good pool. The food was good. The location was not very close to the busy Lamai area, but the owner was very friendly and dropped us off/picked us up when needed.

Ideal hotel for those, who do not want to be on the overcrowded streets of the city. For any transport you will need your motorbike, the hotel is too far from everything by foot. But great pool, nice people, and yes, very quiet place.

Homey, Quaint and Relaxing
We spent our first week out of a month in Thailand at Tropical Palm. We bookd based on the great reviews. It is indeed a lovely place, and though not a luxury resort the staff works very hard to please. And the price is a HUGE value for money. Since it's set a bit out of the way of the city, Paul and Dave, the owners, will run you down to town or to the supermarket to get anything you might need. The place is extremely clean, and the pool is big and refreshing with plenty of sunbeds. A few clarifications and tips: - It is under the B&B category but it's not - and it doesn't include breakfast. Breakfast is about $5 US, so not too bad but good to know. The food at the restaurant is nice and not expensive, but you might want to venture out for some variety. YOU MUST TRY Romantic Bamboo - see a separate review - The bed was very hard the first night and when we said something the next day they brought us a mattress topper that made it much more comfortable - If we weren't there with a baby we definitely would have rented the inexpensive Mopeds from the front desk - Rooms are equipped with refrigerators so stock up on snacks and drinks

Best resort, couldn't find any faults!!!
Staff are really friendly and hospitable, very polite and helpful with everything. Rooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard. Drinks and food at the resort bar were top notch, clean and tasty. Manager offered lifts down to the town whenever needed which saved a lot on taxis. Overall one of the best getaways my partner and I have had and would recommend to anyone going to Koh Samui.

Great little hotel
Great small hotel run by the owners - Dave and Paul and their lovely staff. Nou (who keeps things in order) really looked after us. She is a great cook and we had some lovely Thai food. Paul or Dave were always around for advice about trips, restaurants etc and provided our airport transfers and many lifts into Lamai when it was a bit hot to walk. Pool area was never busy when we stayed and towels were provided for the beach or pool. The rooms were nice - bathroom could do with brighter lighting, but shower was really good. A bit more storage would've been useful as we stopped for 10 nights, but these are only small observations. If you like non-corporate friendly hotels, and don't want to be right in town (it was walkable) you will really like it here
