Kunming is huge, as are virtually all Chinese cities, fascinating combination of the wonderfully old and the amazingly modern, so it is really impossible to have a hotel in the middle of things, because there is no middle. Greenland hotel is very well located, with taxis easily available. Beautiful second-floor lobby. I do not speak any Chinese language, and the fact that only one assistant manager speaks English well was a problem, but not a big one. Room a very good deal. However the rooms are small and the beds notoriously uncomfortable, extremely hard, unlike others I have experienced in comparable hotels in China. But overall I like the hotel and would recommend it.
