We set up a cafe that serves light meals close to the house. We hope our guests will enjoy eating there. :)

---The Neighborhood Overview---
Here in Keihoku, you can put yourself in majestic nature - enjoy trekking riverside, or to waterfall or giant cedars as well as praying in peaceful temples and shrines.

However, since Keihoku is quite a wide area, it is difficult to visit places by just on foot (usually 5-10km away).

---Access---

In order to come to Keihoku area, take a JR bus of Takao/ Keihoku line from Kyoto Station (terminal no. 3) via Enmachi and Nijo station. Shuzan (Syuzan) terminal is a final stop and it takes around 1 hour 20 mins from Kyoto station. It costs JPY1,180, or you can use the Japan Rail Pass.

You will get on the bus from a rear door and get off from the front door after you put your fare in the box next to a driver or show JR pass. We can pick you up at Shuzan terminal by car.

A bus timetable from Kyoto station to Shuzan final terminal:

Depart: 14:00 Arrive: 15:20
Depart: 15:30 Arrive: 16:50
Depart: 16:30 Arrive: 17:50
Depart: 17:30 Arrive: 18:50
Depart: 18:40 Arrive: 20:00
Depart: 19:20 Arrive: 20:40

The bus looks very local, but I am sure you will enjoy the scenery from the window when you come into the mountain lane (after 40mins or so).

A delightful stay in rustic Kyoto countryside
Our crew enjoyed a delightful time in the Kyoto farmhouse. The hosts were most accommodating, Hideo-San is a man of many talents, and his wife is compassionate and very kind. The house itself had the necessary items for cooking and living comfortably. There is a very sweet café, which features kitties and delicious food just a few footsteps away. If we ever find ourselves in this part of the world again, we will certainly reach out and reconnect with these sweet landlords.

Hideo and Yuka were amazing hosts! I would highly recommend their accommodation and tours. English spoken and tour was adapted to suit our interests. Beautiful countryside away from the noise and busy centres. Accommodation is perfect for families. One of the best stops on our holiday!!

Amazing host, wonderful get away
The instructions for getting to the property were very clear which was nice. It's about a 90min bus ride from Kyoto and you get off at the Shuzan stop. Hideo picked us up at the bus station and was nice enough to take us to the grocery store. We are vegan so picking up food was essential. It was myself, my husband and my 2 year old. The house was large and spacious with a heater in every room and lots of English labels on everything. Hideo who picked us up and rents the property also spoke very good English. He gave us a tour of the property. This rental can make for some very relaxing days if you want. They also have a local tour option which we did. We hiked to a waterfall, saw a temple, a shrine, some beautiful cherry blossoms, and a thatch village. He was sooo nice and accommodating as we were a bit slow moving with our 2 year old. Our kiddo had an itchy neck thing going on and he was nice enough to pause the tour and take us to the pharmacy. The second day we went to some hot springs. He again went out of his way to explain things to us so we wouldn't be lost. If you wanted to bring a traditional host gift I would recommend pecan pie. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it.
