Within 20 minutes you both reach the town of Cartagena (harbour, old town with pedestrian streets and Roman remains) and La Manga (restaurants, night life and water sport facilities). Within 50 minites you can visit the shopping streets and cathedral of Murcia and the boardwalk of Puerto de Mazarron. Four large golf clubs can be reached within 30 minute drive (La Serena, Mar Menor, Roda and La Manga). 75 minutes from Alicante Airport and 30 minutes from Murcia airport San Javier.
Surrounded by mountains and sea, the village of Portman is very safe and child friendly and still very Spanish. There is a number of bars and restaurants close by, a medical center, a pharmacy, banks and two supermarkets. Bus connections are limitied.
