Hi. Thank you for looking at our space. Let me give you some idea of what we are offering. We built our home a few years ago from the ground up with this apartment in mind. We have a full walk out basement and sectioned off half of it to create Peaceful Suite. It is completely sectioned off like a normal apartment with its own exterior entrance. You will have a new, complete 2 bedroom apartment that can sleep up to 6. We can accommodate 6 using the beds, the couch (not a pullout), and our single person cot. Each bedroom has a fireplace for warmth and ambiance. The kitchen is very well equipped to meet your needs conveniently with dishes, cookware, utensils, coffee, and all new appliances, etc. You have a full size washer and dryer for your laundry needs, please bring detergent and softener.
You can enjoy the great outdoors during all seasons. It’s a beautiful, peaceful location during the summer with all the fun of lake play. In the fall, we have colorful foliage and brisk, fresh air as you gaze upon or play on the lake. Spring is a great time to watch life restart and get out there for some paddling around in kayaks. And last, but not least, is the winter wonderland to build snowmen, forts and snow angels and a frozen lake for ice fishing. We also have a nice hill for sledding for the little ones. Then come back in for hot coco by the fire. We also have a fire pit area for bonfires all year round. So bring your hot dogs, marshmallows and sticks, and enjoy dinner and dessert by the lake. We have wood available for $10/bundle. Our outdoor grill is attached to the fire ring in the fire pit. You are welcome to cook your food directly on it or line it with tinfoil. We have wood available for sale. Enjoy the fun experience and flavor of food cooked over the open fire!
We have a natural shoreline along the edge of a living lake. We have added a dock with a kayak/canoe launch. So now you can more easily play in and on the lake. There is room to tie up your boats as well. You can sit and enjoy the breeze off the lake, do some fishing, swimming, relaxing while watching the sunset, etc. We have 3 kayaks, 1 paddle boat that seats 4, and 4 inflatable tubes available for rent for fun on the lake, or bring your own lake toys and vehicles.
Important information & House Rules:
**Smoke Free/Fresh Air**
Our home is a smoke free environment. There is to be no smoking or vaping in or near the home. Please do not burn incense or use any other strong, lingering scent in the home. If you want to smoke, please go to the designated smoking area/sitting area, near the parking spaces. Place all butts in the butt bucket provided and all trash in the trash cans. IMPORTANT: Give yourself a few extra moments to air out afterwards before entering the house. The smell really gets into the fabrics and upholstery. No cooking of seafood or fish in the house. You may use the grill outside.
$250 extra cleaning fee for violations.
**Quiet Time**
There are others living here as well. So out of respect for all, we ask that noise be kept down at all times and quiet time be observed between 10PM and 8AM.
**Toilet**
Absolutely nothing except normal toilet paper and tissue is to be flushed! Absolutely NO: wipes, Feminine Products, Facial Cleaners, Toys, Q-Tips, etc. Even if it’s advertised as or you think it is flushable. ONLY normal toilet paper and tissue. If the sewer is backed up after your stay, we will charge for plumbing services.
**Items for Owners Only**
There are 2 areas that contain items for owners use only. These are clearly marked. They are not to be used by guests. We will have to charge you if you use these "owners use only" items. Thank you for understanding and complying.
**Air Conditioning**
A/C is owner controlled. Here’s why … We have central air, so that means just one setting for the whole house. The temp is set to suit most people (~75-77⁰F) as there are others in the home. So, there will be no adjustments for individual preference. It’s naturally nice and cooler in the apartment, plus there are fans for extra circulation if desired. We run the A/C usually just on really hot, muggy days. The rest of the time, we enjoy the fresh air. To keep it cooler in the apartment, I suggest you close the windows and curtains on days when it will be hot, especially during the late afternoon when the sun is shining into the windows. Then open it back up later in the evening for fresh, cooler air.
**Heat**
There is a fireplace in each room. The main living room fire is controlled with the thermostat on the wall nearby. Don’t adjust any knobs, etc on the fireplace itself. The controls for the bedroom heaters are indicated on each unit for your convenience.
**Pets**
• You are responsible for your pets at all times. They are not to be left here unattended (alone) at any time without prior authorization. In other words, they go with you when you leave the property, play on the lake, etc.
• You are required to use protective furniture covers on living room furniture. Some are provided in the living room closet.
• There is a high probability of other dogs being on property. So please use common sense in restraining your dogs. Leashes are strongly recommended. Not all dogs get along with other dogs. Not all owners want other dogs near theirs. Better safe than sorry.
• If you let your pets swim in the lake, please bathe them with the hose & shampoo and dry them VERY well prior to going inside.
• Clean up any messes. Cleaner and tools are provided. They are located in kitchen and closet.
• Dog Poo – You are expected to pick up after your dog outside. No one wants to step in poo.
**TV**
There is a TV in the living room. The remote is on the shelf in front of it. We don’t have cable. Just our movie collection and apps. Some apps are free, others can be used when you log in with your account info. Don’t forget to log out before you leave. See channels pages here in the guide for more information.
**Room Cleaning**
Most of the time, we stay out of your area and respect your privacy. We will clean the area after each stay. You are welcome to wash the sheets, etc. as needed during your stay. You will find a vacuum, broom/dustpan, and mop with bucket in the entry closet. There is Lysol cleaner under each sink. These are provided for your use in the event of accidents and messes.
**Laundry**
You are welcome to use the washer and drier. Please bring your own supplies. The washer is a high efficiency unit, so you only need a tablespoon of soap and a tablespoon of softener per load. Double check that all your socks, little items, etc. are going home with you. They can get caught under the rubber liner around the tub inside the door. The white cabinets above the laundry machines are for owners use only. There is also a clothes line on the support posts outside your entry door.
**Lost/Left Items**
Sometimes guests leave items here. Who hasn’t done that, right? ;) However, we are not responsible for lost or left items. If you have forgotten something, please let us know, and if we find it, we are happy to try to get the item to you. Often, we are able to mail them out, at the guest’s expense.
**Lake Fun**
• All lake fun is at your own risk. There is no life guard on duty. We are not responsible for injury or lost/damaged property. I never thought I would need to say this, but Watch Your Kids! We want everyone safe and happy.
• Dock: Guests are welcome to use the dock. The water is about 5 feet deep off the far side of the dock, and it gets deeper from there.
• Boats: Guests are welcome to moor boats alongside the dock.
