It was a journey back in time to the colonial days. Decorated for the holidays was perfect
We walked the property, looked at the maple syrup taps, old foundation and went sledding. Our daughter is renting on Crystal lake and she came to sled too. House was beautiful. We poked our heads into the basement and garage barn! What a history lesson.

Wonderful historic home for a fall getaway!
The Story Homestead was a wonderful place to stay for our family's autumn getaway to NH. We loved exploring the surrounding countryside, which was ablaze with fall colors. The kitchen was well-equipped for preparing family meals, and the spacious bedrooms ensured everyone had a comfortable stay. A truly memorable experience - highly recommended!

Farm house fun
It’s a great property and we had a blast (two families with toddlers). The staircase is very steep but there’s plenty of room downstairs and outside to roam and play. The beds were comfortable and ACs in every room. Great place for a relaxing rural vacation.

Historic farmhouse with plenty of space
The Story house had plenty of historical charm and we appreciated that the owner shared the history of the house's original owners. We had to cut our stay short because of a work obligation and the owner was gracious about the change, offering a refund for the time we weren't using the space.

Nice property in peaceful environment. Good location.
Loved the historical charm and layout of the property. Check-in process was easy using the coded keyless entry. The backyard was enormous and we enjoyed the peace and privacy of the property. However, the gas grill was very dirty and needed a thorough cleaning before we could even use it. Also, the flavorizer/heat distribution bars were rusty and corroded and should be replaced. Excellent wi-fi in the farmhouse. Softest bed I've ever slept in, but I found it to be very uncomfortable. Nice flat screen TV, but it only has capability for streaming services, no cable or satellite service. The bathroom on the main floor was spacious with a good shower and plenty of hot water.

Great Time in a Historic Home
We loved our stay at the Story Homestead. The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and we enjoyed snowshoeing in the woods on the newly fallen snow. The king bed was comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with cooking implements.

Loved the location
We had a lovely sister weekend at this property. The accommodations are cozy and warm and really give you the feel of an older farmhouse. It's quintessential old New England. We loved the local hiking. The stairs are as advertised - steep with no handrail, and there is only one bathroom connected to the main bedroom, but again - this is a farmhouse from the 1700s, so keeping that in mind it was great!

Nice relaxing stay
Nice quiet location close to many outdoor recreation opportunities. Liked the sense of home it gave. Only one small issue was with the electronic door lock, it stopped working and were unable to lock the door when we checked out at 11:00. Called number given for assistance and also sent email but had not received a reply as of the time of this review. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

Terrible.
Horrible experience. A single 1st floor window unit does not qualify as an air conditioned. There were lots of spider webs, stained area rug on the dirty bathroom floor, ancient bed mattresses and a bevy steep stairway to the second floor without a railing. Since the only bathroom was on the 1st floor anyone needing to use it would have to navigate it in the dark. Not a good setup. Can NOT recommend this to anyone - especially at the price. Looking for a refund.

Fun Adventure at the Story Homestead
We stayed 10 days at the Story Homestead with our almost 2 year old. It was a really neat experience and it grew to feel like home. We were sad to leave at the end of our trip! The kitchen is fully stocked and we cooked a lot. The barn is full of yard games, boats, and other things for guest use. There was a closet full of toys, games, and books. We saw turkeys crossing through the yard in the morning and the history of the home made it feel charming. The only bathroom is in need of renovation, although the shower was newer. The carpets could also be replaced, especially upstairs. The master bed was very comfortable. The stairs, as described, are very steep so I’m not sure it would work for a big family since the only bathroom is on the first floor. My husband worked from the house for several days and the internet was fast enough for streaming and remote work. Overall, we really loved our stay and are missing it now that we’re back in Pennsylvania!

Great stay at historic and comfortable home
My family had a wonderful stay at the Story Homestead. The home is set off a rural road and very private. We enjoyed watching the turkeys cross the lawn in the morning and the firepit in the evenings. The location is great -- close to Hanover, NH and also to lakes and trails for recreation. Communication was very good and helpful. The maple syrup was a lovely gift.

Great place for a family
This was a great place for our family. It was calm, relaxing, clean, and had plenty of stuff for the kids to do. It was close to local swimming spots and other area attractions. The owner, Mike, communicated with us and told us all about the property. We didn’t us the kayaks or canoes, but we would have if our kids were older. I highly recommend this house. We had a perfect stay!

Farmhouse Getaway
What a wonderful and historic home. When you stay here, you know you are in a historic home, in the best possible way. It’s been well maintained and updated but it still has a great sense of stepping back despite the modern appliances. The grounds are large and great for kids to play. Kayaks and boats can be used on the nearby lakes and ponds. Communication was very easy with the owner. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely home, and would return again.

Winter wonderland
We had a great experience at the Story house! We used it as our launching pad for adventures across the Upper Valley. Great location. Close enough to the places we wanted to go but far enough off the beaten path to really enjoy the peace and quiet. Kids loved the home and the barn and played out on hills (there was a decent amount of snow) outside. Great hosts who built really cute history notebook. Was surprised to see wooden chest of former Dartmouth President in the living room. They provided comfy linens, shower was nice and warm and tons of board games to play after dinner. Loved our trip!

Beautiful location in Enfield Nh
We loved our stay at the farm house and look forward to returning when we can. The posted description and images are accurate: the property is beautiful and peaceful and the house very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay and Mike is an excellent host who quickly responded to any questions. We enjoy the outdoors and found great hiking trails to explore through our All Trails app but also had business in Hanover NH which was an easy trip north. We would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting the "Upper Valley" area of New Hampshire and Vermont for hiking, skiing, exploring or simply relaxing. We were lucky to experience fantastic foliage during our October visit...a great bonus!
