Within a short walking distance of the cottage, are a variety of cafes, pubs and a good restaurant, The Kings House.
A little further afield is the market town of Ludlow, renowned as a gastronomic centre with Food and Drink Festival and the Ludlow Food Centre.
Hay-on-Wye is equally well known for its independent book shops and world famous Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts.
Local gardens include Westonbury Mill Gardens, Hergest Croft Gardens, Hampton Court Castle and Bryan's Ground.
Nearby National Trust properties worth visiting are Croft Castle and Berrington Hall while Ludlow Castle is also a major historic attraction.
A lovely day out with the family can be had at Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre in Kington.
