Accommodation In Lhasa

Lhasa is one of the most dreamt about destinations in the world. With over 1000 years of cultural and spiritual history, come and enjoy the impressive heritage that surrounds the mysterious Tibetan region. Book your Lhasa hotel with us and you'll be one step closer to your dream holiday!

The altitude of Lhasa - 3650m above sea level, adds to the allure and keeps it remote. In the local language Lhasa means "the Holy Land", and you'll quickly discover why this is the case when you visit. The best way to get into Lhasa is by train, so grab a window street and keep an eye out for the spectacular mountain scenery on the way in.

Check out the splendour of the Potala Palace, which was previously the primary residence of the Dalai Lama. Today it's a museum displaying many important artefacts, and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The White and Red Palaces and the surrounding buildings symbolize Tibetan Buddhism and are some of the most photographed buildings in Tibet. See Norbulingka which is the former summer palace and a masterpiece of Tibetan art. Walk through the pleasant surrounds in the park, and check out the amazing outer buildings and chapels too.

If you're feeling adventurous, try a rafting tour down the river or take in the natural scenery from a more sedate pace on horseback. Walk the pilgrim circuit of Barkhor that winds clockwise around the base of Jokhang Temple, and see the oldest street in Tibet. The Bakhor Street Market lines the circuit, and is where you can bargain with the local vendors for handicrafts that are rarely seen in the rest of the world. You couldn't ask for a better souvenir. Keep an eye out for a local teahouse, and have a traditional tea ceremony experience in one of the many cafes that surround the Jokhang.

Have a look at the ancient architecture of the Jokhang Temple Monastery that was founded in the 7th century, and is the spiritual heart of Tibet. Enjoy the continuous waves of awestruck pilgrims prostrating outside the temple, which was originally built to house an image of Buddha brought to Tibet by King Songtsen Gampo's Nepalese wife. The Tibet Museum is a wonderful attraction where you can see interesting exhibits that are interlaid with Chinese propaganda. Discover the prehistory of Tibet and explore ancient weapons, musical instruments and sacred art that are unseen in many other parts of the world.

A visit to Lhasa takes you to a fantastic and spiritual destination that's full of history, culture and ancient temples, and is the dream of many to visit and see firsthand. Make it a reality with a flight to China and a great deal on Lhasa accommodation, and all you'll need to worry about is to pack. Your next great holiday awaits!
