We arrived at around midnight to find that the hotel didn’t inform me when I was booking the room that they would have a planned power outage during my stay. I was traveling with my family but also needed to work remotely in my room during my stay because I had to do a presentation via video conference. When asked if they could divert my reservation to one of their sister hotels instead, they said they couldn’t as that can only be done if they didn’t have any rooms. They had rooms, they just didn’t have any power throughout the entire hotel from 9-2 during my stay. Bear in mind that I had called 2 separate times 2 days in advance to ask for directions, inquire about another room that I had booked and asked about their dining options. No one on the call told me about the hotel having no power from 9-2 on the day of my stay. Their front desk staff is well-trained to be nonchalant under these circumstances so you will not get any empathy from them. They offered no help and their body language hinted that they couldn’t care less. Other guests were just as flabbergasted as we were. I have never experienced such blatant disregard for guests even from a 2-star hotel. There was no way to book another hotel online since it’s past midnight and any online reservations only had the next day’s start-date. My family ended up having to call around town to find another hotel that had rooms. This booking at Fairmont was a disaster and huge disappointment.

A luxury end to a very disappointing day
Our flight home had been cancelled just before check-in time and we discovered we couldnt get home until the following day. We were then advised to find our own hotel for the night, paid for by the airline. We didn't want to go back into the city and then have get back again in the morning so we chose the Fairmont as it is inside the airport. Check-in was a breeze and the most glorious room awaited us overlooking the airport comings and goings. Huge bed with high quality linen. We treated ourselves to room service and a bottle, after hot showers. Just so perfect, we felt the holiday had been extended by 24 hours. Thankyou Fairmont for picking us up after a difficult day.

Best airport hotel I've stayed in. Well kept and great service. Pool is a disappointment as too shallow to swim, but one in the airport, you can see why (no structural depth as departures is below)
