Renters beware! Double charge scam?
My family of 4 stayed in this apartment in July, having booked and paid in February. The property was as described, clean, and in a good location.
Alas, communication with the host was bad leading up to our visit - emails & messages went unanswered, and I did not receive info to access the property until I contacted them day of, and then it was a couple of hours before they responded with the wrong access code to the apartment. The wrong access code was resolved quickly enough, and I thought all was well.
Until I checked my credit card transactions and noted that they charged me a 2nd time for the stay. Ok, could be an honest mistake. I reached out to the host and they said they would get back to me after "speaking with their financial dept". I gave them a few days and did not hear from them, so I contacted them again. They said they refunded me. Great! I waited a few days again and did not see the refund go through. I contacted them again, and they informed me that they had refunded me my original payment back in Feb! I checked my transactions on my cc app and in my ledger - no refund. They insisted that they sent a refund, and sent me a screenshot of a receipt that supposedly proved it. I had ZERO emails. They insisted it was all fine on their end. They initially refused to explain why they would have refunded me in Feb, & their eventual answer made no sense. They refused to show me more legit proof. I finally had to file a chargeback dispute with my cc company. Beware!
