This lovely 200 year old ex-fisherman's cottage is small but very pretty, a perfect size for a couple, with a very well equipped, light and airy kitchen. A double bedroom, Shower Room, and a Lounge with a feature original Welsh Stone curved wall.
RE: CORONAVIRUS / COVID 19. We have changed our cancellation policy to 'relaxed' - if you have a booking and the government changes it's rules meaning that you can't come by law, you will receive a refund or be able to change your dates without being charged for making the amendment, subject to availability. We have completed a risk assessment and a copy of this will be in the folder in the cottage.
As regards cleaning: please be assured that we have spent the lockdown period discussing how we are going to keep the cottage safe. There will be a thorough cleaning with bleach and disinfectant right through before arrival. Soft furnishings and linens will be removed/changed between guests so that more than 72 hours elapses in between uses, and of course all the bedlinen etc will be boil or bleach washed before it goes back in there too. Even the outside gate, doors, windows fencing and wall will be sprayed during each changeover clean. When you arrive, the key will be in the door waiting for you. We will not approach closer than 2m. I would welcome you to let yourself in, make yourself comfortable, and explore what's in the cupboards and drawers to familiarise yourself. We are literally just over the fence and on the end of text and messaging if you need anything. In the event that we have to come in at your request we welcome you to ask us to wear a mask. Just ask if you need a couple of spare paper ones yourself. Details of local hospitals and GP surgery/Pharmacy are in the brown welcome book that you will see on the coffee table on arrival. However if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been close to someone who has tested positive, please do not come. Contact us if this is the case.
With gas central heating throughout and a gas fire in the lounge for an additional boost, this cottage is warm and cosy all year round.
We provide all linen, fridge freezer, microwave, gas oven. There is a TV and DVD player in the lounge, plus of course the all important WiFi.
The cottage is situated alongside our garden and the wall separating the cottage has pots and baskets with seasonal plants and flowers. The outlook is south towards the Snowdonia range of mountains, and we are situated immediately off the A55 which is the main route through North Wales: This gives very easy access to the road network whichever direction you wish to explore.
The village, Llanfairfechan, is a typical Welsh seaside village. We have a Spar and a Co-op, a handful of pubs, some serving food, takeaway, an award winning butcher, a couple of cafes on the seafront. The cottage is literally just a few seconds walk from a lovely sandy beach and the Promenade, where you can wander along past a small lake with nesting swans, onto the salt flats where you may find many unusual birds.
A 15 minute drive, if you want to venture out, will take you to Llandudno, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Bangor, or the bridge across to the Island of Anglesey. Llanberis with it's lovely lake and Mountain Railway is about half an hour away.
You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog/s with you. If you do so, we ask that you don't leave him alone in the cottage at any time, as they tend to make quite a bit of noise and this upsets our own dogs. It's useful if you bring your own doggy bowls, and a few throws to protect our furniture from those sandy paws that are inevitable here! We don't ask that you keep them off the furniture as we know that's impossible unless that's what they do at home.
Our garden is not accessible from the cottage, it is fenced off for our own dogs to use. Please be aware that they may bark at you as you enter the gate but will quickly lose interest and wander away (they cannot access the cottage path, so don't worry about that) - if you do not like dogs, or they annoy you, it makes sense for you to please choose an alternative property, as this may not be right for you.
There is a concrete path outside the cottage that is secure but your dog must be taken out for toileting. There is a big grassy area just before the sea wall and the beach, less than a minute away. If you look at Llanfairfechan beach on google earth, the small section of beach in between the two jetty’s to the right of the pavilion, is designated Dog free from 1st May to 30th September. However the rest of the beach is dog friendly all year- look at the huge expanse of sand to the left of the pavilion. Our dogs love chasing a ball on there !
