In the south-east of Burgundy, 1h south of Dijon, 1h north of Lyon, and 1h50 west of Geneva, we offer this magnificent property on 2 hectares of beautiful gardens and wooded land, complete with a pond and swimming pool. The estate can accommodate up to 10 guests between 5 bedrooms. With classic architectural style and period matching decor, the home offers the romanticism of Bourgogne’s rich history, while also providing state of the art comfort. Every appliance is top of the line, with a kitchen worthy of a gourmet chef.

Its location gives immediate access to all of the wine country, with the town of Chardonnay and the birthplace of white wine only 15 minutes away. There is easy access to popular sites such as L’Abbaye de Cluny, La Roche de Solutré, Château de Cormatin, Brancion, Le Grand Lac, Grottes d'Azé, Berzé-le-Châtel Fortress, the Morvan forest, and much more, all within about a 30 minute drive. Beaune, Chalon-sur-Saône, & Macon are our closets cities, and the lovely town of Tournus serves as our closest major town, only 8 minutes away. Tournus, perched on the Saône river, is a beautiful town, famous for its Abbey, Saturday Farmers Market, access to bike paths, and Michelin Star restaurants.

There is also nearby a small park for children, and the town Salle de Fête. Down the hill from our location is the Seille river, which heads east to Louhans, and west to merge with the Saône in Tournus.

The House
House Ground Floor: Large living room with fireplace, entertainment center, bar, and four glass doors opening onto different terraces. Dining room seating ten opens to gourmet kitchen, complete with all Miele and Gaggenau equipment. Family room, which can be converted into a 5th bedroom with queen sized (160x200) bed. One WC with sink, one shower with sink, entry foyer, and laundry room complete with large washer and drier, and second fridge.
House Upstairs: Sitting/reading/play room in the center. 4 bedrooms, 3 with queen sized (160x200) beds, and one with two single beds (90x190). Large bathroom, with shower, bathtub, double sinks, and bidet. Separate WC.
Garage: The garage holds a guest area where we keep supplies like pool toys, beach towels, games, toys, baby and toddler items, a ping pong table, and more. There is also a spare shower.
Entertainment/Internet: The house has a brand new flat screen TV, complete with DVD player and LiveBox Smart TV from Orange. WIFI onsite, with fibre connection.
Heating/Cooling: The home has a radiant floor heating system that pipes hot water under the floors of the entire downstairs and upstairs of the home, maintaining a perfect and consistent temperature at all times during the winter months. There are also small space heaters in every room for more localized warmth. Thick stone walls, and mosquito proof screens on key windows help keep the house cool during the summer months. Each room also has a portable fan for localized cooling.
Cooking/Dining: The home is particularly good for cooking and entertaining family and friends. The kitchen has a host of supplies for making specialty dishes like crepes, fondue, and waffles, as well as equipment for making fresh juice, pastries, baked goods, and much more. The dining area includes a multitude of wine and cocktail glasses and dish ware for any occasion.
The Gardens
Large covered patio spaces: The primary patio is located next to the swimming pool, complete with ten person dining table, hammock, lounge furniture, and BBQ. A second covered patio space sits at the side of the house, with a breakfast table. Ample outdoor furniture is available for creating other seating spaces around the gardens.
Swimming Pool: The pool is a full size, in-ground swimming pool. It has a locking cover over the entire area, making it safe for small children, and better at preserving warmth. The pool is usable seasonably, from mid-April to mid-October.
Barbecue: For food lovers, you will find a world class BBQ, imported from Texas. It is accompanied by a wide range of cooking tools, for anything you might like to grill.
Pond: Located in the back area of the gardens, the pond is home to frogs and ducks.
Play Area: In a nicely shaded section of the gardens, we have a trampoline and swing, for children to enjoy.
Toys/Games: We have many toys and games for families to enjoy. Indoors is a cabinet full of board games, cards, chess, etc. In the garage guest area we have boxes full of legos, toys for various ages, sports equipment, a ping-pong table, pool toys, and more.
Baby/Toddler Equipment: We have onsite for families, a car seat (all ages), a folding stroller, a child seat for dining, a child hiking carrier, a toddler sized potty, several child stools, and a bathtub aid for hair washing.
Firewood: There is ample cut firewood on the property, that is free to all guests.
Fruit Trees/Vegetables: Guests are welcome to pick and eat whatever is ripe in the gardens. Trees onsite include fig, cherry, apple, pear, peach, walnut, chestnut, and hazelnut.
House Rules
In high season, July-August, when demand and turnover are high, it is imperative to leave the house at 9am so that our cleaning team can intervene before the arrival of new guests. In low or medium season, for weekend reservations (long weekends, public holidays), if the calendar allows it, it is possible to extend your stay until the end of the day with a supplement of 200€.
Please do not turn the central heating system up past the indicated level, and make an effort to keep doors and windows closed during the cold months. Energy costs are high right now, and we ask you to please be responsible. There are ample space heaters available in every room if you desire more localized heat in bedrooms of other spaces.
Please keep the swimming pool water level at full. We can explain exactly how to do that, and there are instructions onsite. Please leave the pool cover slightly open upon departure, to slow evaporation. We are very happy to explain and assist as needed.
The house is equipped with a septic tank, so please do not put bleach or strong drain cleaning chemicals in the pipes. If you have any plumbing concerns, please contact us immediately for resolution.
It is necessary to respect selective sorting of trash to recycling, as well as the removal of your garbage at the end of your stay.
Pets are allowed, but only outside., no animals inside the house at any time please. We have a lot of high quality furniture and rugs that we do not want damaged. There is a perimeter fence surrounding all 2 hectares of the property, that can keep most dogs contained.
No smoking indoors at any time, and no cigarette butts or other rubbish in the garden please.
You can use the fire wood in the garden for your barbecue or for the fireplace as much as you like at no cost. There is ample firewood stored around the property that you can use. We ask that you please clean the indoor fireplace and the barbecue at the end of your visit.
Please keep noise to a modest level after sunset, and respect the neighborhood.
Please stay out of the underground spaces, namely the lower garage, and the wine cellar below the house.
