The day we arrived, host messaged me to tell me the property we reserved was not ready and we would have to stay at another property for the night. We came from out of the country and had several suitcases. We said ok and went to this temporary property. The stairwell of the temp place smelled dtrongly of urine. The flat was very dirty, beds obviously slept in and not washed. Trash still in the bin. Dishes in sink. No toilet paper. Heat was set very high. Host sent a maid to clean it. The next day we went to the property we actually booked. Host was supposed to order us an uber and claimed that he would refund us the 1 night. He kept postponing ordering the uber as we stood on the street with all our luggage. He slipped and mentioned that guest were still at the property then he corrected himself and said that the property was a big mess with spilled chocolate milk everywhere. Upon arriving to correct place, it was thankfully much nicer than the temporary property. And much cleaner. We only had 1 roll of toilet paper and a partial roll of paper towels. And the thermostat did not heat nor cool the place. Overall it was a terrible experience for us. We did not enjoy having to take our suitcases back and forth, and the slow communication from the host. He chose to only message through whatsapp about the shortcomings and keep "well intentioned" messages in the vrbo chat platform. This stay has made me very weary of using vrbo outside of the u.s.
