Apartment five is a compact studio apartment located on the lower level adjacent to apartment 1. This studio apartment does not include a parking space.

The Joy Apartment complex

Lornes newest and most impressive collection of self-contained beach front apartments. Completed in December 2019 under the guidance of well-known local architect Lachlan Shepperd, each apartment has been meticulously designed, renovated, furnished and finally styled.

Features such as wool carpeted bedrooms, MCM house designer furniture, hand laid mosaics, polished timber floors, pendant lighting & Belling Ovens are just the beginning.

Located in arguably the best beachfront location in town, all apartments (excluding studio) take in spectacular ocean views from the decks and open plan living rooms. Central to all shops and amenities, and directly opposite the Lorne Sea Baths precinct, the Joy Apartments leave little to be desired when it comes to ease of access. Everything is truly at your fingertips.

The complex consists of 2 two-bedroom apartments on level one, 2 split level 3-bedroom apartments and one studio. All fully self-contained and all accessible via a central hallway with keypad access.

Both three-bedroom apartments have single lock up garages with 2-bedroom apartments allocated a laneway park. Smith Street adjacent to the rear offers all day parking within a stones throw.

Other features include Wifi throughout, smart TVs, gas BBQs and laundry facilities. Double glazed windows ensure sound proofing from street.

The apartment is in the very centre of town just 50m to the main street. The alley from the Main Street to the front door is somewhat steep so may not be the best for elderly or people with walking difficulties. There is no dedicated parking but the rear street (uphill from apartment, perhaps 150m) has free all day parking. The apartment itself is small with no wardrobes, clothes racks or side draws to bed. This would be very inconvenient if staying for several days as there is nowhere to unpack your clothes. Two suitcases on the floor takes up a lot of space and you have to tiptoe around the apartment very carefully. Facilities were good (new kitchenette, newly renovated bathroom, comfortable bed) but ceiling fan was encrusted in dust and had not been cleaned for a very long time. Towels were also old and had seen better days. There are no views for this apartment (the listing description is wrong) and only a very tiny window to let in air. The checkin process and communication with managers was very good and we asked for (and received) a late checkout which was greatly appreciated. Everything considered, you are paying for the excellent location. There are many accomodation options available in Lorne a bit further from the beach with the same price point that offer significantly more in terms of views and facilities.

Nice place
This was overall a good experience. Nicely fitted out with almost everything thing we would need in a great location. A couple of small things- hooks on the back of the door would be handy for clothes and a full length mirror would be nice. (Went to a wedding). Other little things were a used mask under a blanket on the chair when arrived, and only one roll of toilet paper. However, I would visit again.

When the cost gets back to normal.....
.....supply and demand I know, but they were charging (and we paid!) more than double normal rate, which averages $199 per night. Location is fantastic of course, dead centre of Lorne, across from the beach, and perfectly clean and very well presented. It is a studio though, so very small, nowhere to put, nor hang, clothes. One tiny window so can feel a bit dungeon-like. If prices do get back to "sensible", and you need a clean room in a great location, then we'd recommend this.

Very clean and tidy. Looked amazing, the tile artwork at the door was pretty groovy and the room was very cute - loved the design of it. Location is A+ with the beach being kinda right on your doorstep and all the food places around was handy. Only downfall is the noise....!!!! You can hear everything from the apartments above, people walking, kids jumping, bathrooms being used you name it. The room could probably use another source of cooling as it got quite warm - I'd hate to stay there in the middle of summer, you would cook!!

Good studio for two, bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.
Instructions were good, but we missed finding the property as the door was quite discreet down the alleyway. The studio is as the photos indicate; definitely on the cosier side for the cost but great location. Modern interior, great TV. WIFI was nippy. The property manager made it easy for a later check in with collection made available when we arrived around 8.30pm on a Friday, and drop off after check out was easy enough just round the corner. Overall, the place is 100% as advertised - however good to note also what the place doesn’t have: There’s no dishwasher or stove, and no car park for the studio - however you can drive into that alleyway and temporarily park, then shift to the all day which is a walk all around to the back of a Smith Street (no direct access unfortunately). Also, if you’re a light sleeper, it sounds like the plumbing or water mains (or maybe cooling system) from the other apartments runs through near the apartment door, so runs throughout the night in moderate sounding bursts and is relatively loud. Took a bit of getting used to, but recommend if you’re a light sleeper to use earplugs as it can be a little disruptive. Lastly, the studio has no air conditioning - just an overhead fan. It’s excellent at insulating so it’s generally warm inside, regardless of the weather outside, however we felt it was a bit stuffy and the fan didn’t circulate too much outside air into the room. Overall a good stay, and just some things to note above that I wish I’d looked for when booking. Thanks for being great hosts and for a clean and well located accommodation for a short getaway!
