Mainley Cabin /Pets Welcome/ Water front / Kayaks / Stone fire pit

The Mainley log cabin is our summer paradise, but we do share for a few months out of the year because the view is too good not to share! You will not find another property as well maintained and welcoming at this price pointandthe cleaning fee is very reasonable at $100. We know that times are hard right now so we work hard to provide the best value for your hard earned money. The Mainley is a true log cabin, rustic, but very comfortable with an elevated view of Cobscook bay and Moose Island. It is perfect for nature loving couples or families of 4, with a king bed in the loft , 2 single beds in the downstairs bedroom, and one large full bath with a walk in shower . If you are looking to escape the big city life for a little while and connect with nature you will love it here. No pet fee, no weight limit on dogs and we have a very reasonable and flexible cancellation policy. We have large dogs, so we understand the frustration of not being able to find accommodations that allow dogs over 80 pounds. All well behaved dogs welcome, up to 3 dogs per booking. We accept well behaved cats upon request as well. Our cabin is furnished with big dogs in mind. It is unreasonable to ask that your dog stay off of the furniture, so we have sturdy, covered, easily cleaned furnishings. We fell in love with the massive Lubec tides, the water birds, and all of the wildflowers here and we are sure you will, too! Reserve the perfect dates for next summer now because the calendar fills up quickly with returning guests. A recent guest described the Mainley best by saying " if you want a Disney type vacation this is not for you, but if you want to commune with nature in a relaxing clutter free space this is perfect." The cabin is at the end of a long gravel driveway and is about a quarter of a mile off of North Lubec Road. It is located close to the end of the North Lubec peninsula. The location feels very remote and is surrounded by thick forest, but it is only 6 miles to the town of Lubec. Lubec is a nature lovers paradise, but the restaurants are limited, close early, and there is no night life. Summer activities shut down at the end of September, but the natural beauty of the area is still amazing. The beach is downhill from the cabin and the short walk may be difficult to navigate for older guests even though we have a wide well-maintained path. The Mainley shares a secluded beach with 2 smaller cabins. The cabins are far enough apart with large trees between them to maintain privacy. Guests from the other cabins do walk the path in front and downhill from the Mainley to get to the beach so you will see them, occasionally. The Mainley cabin has an open concept main floor with 20-foot ceilings, wood burning fireplace, large deck, screened porch, a smart TV with Spectrum basic cable, 200Mbps high speed internet and WIFI. Our cabin is a clean, rustic, but comfortable, place to relax and read a book (we have lots of them) or just enjoy the view and the sound of the tide coming in. Watch the rise and fall of the massive, 20 plus foot tides, from the elevated deck that runs the length of the house. Bring your paddle board or use our kayaks and explore the bay. To use our kayaks you must sign the waiver form in the welcome book. Walk on the rocky, beach in front of the cabin, and watch eagles, gulls, and seals. We highly recommend the whale watching tours with Down East Charters, that runs from June too mid-September, from Lubec. The guide is funny, well informed, and touring the coast lines of neighboring islands is breathtaking. This home is equipped with everything that you need for relaxing getaway. The kitchen has plenty of counter space to prepare fresh seafood, while the easy-to-use appliances and lots of cooking equipment make vacation cooking easy. If you want to enjoy outdoor dining, cook out on the portable charcoal grill and eat on the deck. Plenty of outdoor chairs to enjoy the view and a screened porch for relaxing without the bugs. There is a Peloton bike in the loft so you can work out with a view and a total fitness weight system in the basement. To use our exercise equipment you must sign the waiver form in the welcome book. With all of the wonderful hiking trails in the area and the kayaks you probably will not need to use the Peloton or the weights! This is not a suitable beach for swimming because current is too strong and the water is always too cold.

Slice of Heaven
I wish I could write a negative review so that I can have this place all to myself. This is our second time coming to Mainley Cabin, once in October, and once in May and each time has been perfect. The owners, the manager, the house, the town. Everything is perfect about this place. Hoping to call Maine home someday.

Just wow
We were so happy with our stay and the overall service experience. The host and her property manager were extremely responsive and eager to maximize our experience. Even with bad weather and power outages they were able to attend to our comfort. The property itself is exactly as advertised and very pretty. Lots of hiking and beach and water views so nearby. We will be back!

Outstanding experience
You can 100% believe every accolade you read in the other 58 reviews and the description provided…this place is HEAVEN! Instead of repeating all the accurate, wonderful comments about the property and incredibly responsive hosts, I’ll cite some of our favorite details: impeccably clean (and we are very picky), more storage than you could ever use, champagne glasses!, bedside mini-flashlights, people and pet baskets of goodies, stocked supplies including toiletries and first aid kit, eagles flying by!, at least 8 different cozy, comfy places to relax with gorgeous views, awesome firepit with tons of seasoned wood to burn, extra fridge/freezer in basement, spacious bathroom with lovely stacks of pristine towels neatly folded in the plentiful drawers and shelves, super cool laundry chute to basement washer/dryer. Also love no big box stores anywhere, countless places to hike, Small Town Takeout lobster rolls, Monica’s chocolates, yarn/pet store next to cute ice cream/gift shop, Eastern most point in US (Quoddy) just a few miles down the road with incredible views and trails. Experiencing Reversing Falls is a must-do.

Perfect days in Mainley Cabin
From arrival to departure our stay was perfect. We enjoyed a rainy day relaxing and watching birds and tide come and go. The sunny days were great for beach walking, taking advantage of great hiking trails we could walk to right from the cabin. Cooking dinner out on the charcoal grill, enjoying dessert on the screen porch. Just a nice, quiet, week to festers and enjoy rural northern Maine in this cozy cabin.

Our Favorite Vacation!
Our trip to Lubec and at this cabin was by far the best vacation our family has taken. Lubec is such a sweet little town and the house was absolutely perfect. The house was spotless when we arrived. The setup is beautiful with the perfect loft area overlooking the water. The kids had the best time kayaking and walking the beach each day. It was so worth the long drive and we can’t wait to come back next summer.

We loved our stay at the cabin! The views of Johnson's bay and Eastport were awesome. We were able to take advantage of and enjoy the fire pit and kayaks provided with the cabin. Our pup also loved the easy beach access to go swimming every day. It's a great location for exploring Lubec and the surrounding area. Our hosts are very gracious in providing many extras to make the stay most enjoyable! Highly recommend!

A beautiful cabin with a view
We loved our 6 night stay here. The cabin was as described and well furnished. They even had some basic food items and snacks which were very appreciated when we arrived after everything had closed. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked well. They even had well seasoned firewood in the basement, making fires a breeze. We'll definitely be returning.

Restful & Lovely
We had a lovely time staying at this property — the view is impeccable (sunrises through the window in the morning from the bedroom), meals on the porch, reading and relaxation on the hammock, firepits and shooting stars at night. My communication with the hosts was timely and effortless. They were incredibly helpful and warm. There are a couple of other smaller camps on the property (not in eye distance from the house) but we had several friendly run-ins with others as they made their way down to the beach. Not total seclusion but damn near close. Thank you for a lovely visit. A much needed rest - now back to work!

INCREDIBLE
This was literally, hands down, the BEST vacation Vrbo stay we’ve ever had. The owners are so communicative, even though we never NEEDED them. Such an easy experience. Perfect cabin. Perfect location. Perfect weather (we stayed in October). I cannot rave about this place enough. It was just me and my husband, we left our teenager at home with family. I’d say this is a vacation place to get “away” from it all. There is excellent service (Wi-Fi etc) but it feels so secluded. My teen said she was so glad she didn’t go because “hiking, lighthouses, sea glass, seafood, Canada, puzzles and books are lame”! Lol PERFECT FOR US! Highly recommended!!! Thanks to Damon and Jamie!

The cabin was very clean, homey, and stocked with everything you might need. The accommodations were so comfortable, It's hard to say what we enjoyed most! We spent most of our time soaking in the beautiful views from the deck and fire pit. The kayaks provided were so convenient and fun to paddle around in. This was our second stay at the Mainly Cabin and we couldn’t recommend it enough. The cabin is clean, cozy and the owners really provide you with everything…even a Peloton! The views are breathtaking from the loft and the deck. You can enjoy a bonfire outside on a chilly night while admiring the views of the water and wildlife. The beach is very accessible. They even provided kayaks to explore the water. This is a perfect retreat for those who are looking for relaxation and serenity. The property also welcomes dogs, allowing us to take our two corgis. Solitude found in Cobscook Bay
I don’t even know where to begin! Our stay was amazing! The location is so peaceful, and the indoor space, as well as screened in porch, and deck really invite you to kick back, relax, and take in nature. The views are breathtaking. The cabin was so clean. As a neat freak, I appreciated small touches like Clorox wipes left near the peloton and in the bathroom. We were traveling with our 3 dogs, and when we got there, there was a crate filled with useful dog items during our stay. I just thought that was so sweet. We were also traveling with our two teenage Sons. They loved the use of the kayaks for fishing and exploring, and hanging out on the hammock. We found great seaglass!! The kitchen was well appointed, even supplied us with things to make s’mores with, which I though was so thoughtful! The details of this home, and the decor added a warm, cozy, and welcoming vibe! The hosts were awesome and responsive, and kudos to Carla for managing this property immaculately! We will be back!

So lovely we didn’t want to leave!
The owners thought of everything- we didn’t need anything at all. The sweeping vista can be seen from the entire property. The peloton bike was really nice to ride - there are cages so anyone can try it out. The kayaks brought welcome serenity on the glassy bay. Our dog Hank gives it four paws too! The only consideration - the town isn’t really open except Thursday-Sunday. We stayed Sunday-Thursday and we were only able to go to the few shops and the pub one day. Not a big deal though as we were visiting Lubec to relax and escape the southern heat.

Welcoming, stress-free accommodations with views that dreams are made of...
Over the years, my husband and I have rented many cabins and cottages for our vacation getaways. We can honestly say that Mainely Cabin was one of the best and most enjoyable accommodations for us to date! We arrived just after check-in, so the sun was still up, but the porch lights were on for us in case we came in late. Inside, we were welcomed by a spotlessly clean living space, a very well appointed kitchen, and even a welcome basket for our pooch! The ceiling fans were spinning, keeping the fresh air that drifted in off the bay circulating throughout the cabin. The king-sized bed in the loft was as comfortable as our own bed at home (and that's saying a lot). From bed we had a view out the enormous arched windows on the back wall of the cabin, and we watched a palette of sunrise colors every morning. Outside, a rack of like-new kayaks were ready to be taken for a paddle at high tide. The paths as well as the wooden stairs down to the beach were impeccably maintained, and at low tide the beach combing yielded an interesting assortment of rocks and sea glass. We were also delighted to discover several wonderful hiking spots within striking distance of the property (Klondike Mountain surprised us with a good workout for the glutes). Damon and Jamie are incredibly responsive hosts, and we never felt neglected. Carla the property manager is warm, friendly, and helpful. Our vacation here was so easy and comfortable that we'll be able to look back on it as one of our very best times away from home!

Rejuvenating Experience
This vacation had an effect on me like no other in a long time. 1st of all the cabin/cottage/house is spotlessly clean. Has all amenities including an extremely comfortable king bed in a loft That looks out directly at the ocean inlet in front of the property. Sitting on the deck in the morning we would wave to the fishing boats as they passed by. An eagle perched in a tree right in front of the deck one morning for quite a while.. There is peace and solitude at this property that just reduces tensionAnd allowed my wife and I toBecome more relaxed than we have been in a long time. We also enjoyed the small town of Lubec and surrounding area with many hiking trails and beautiful scenery. Our.hosts and Carla the caretaker were available for all questions we had prior to and during our stay. Good people! All in all this is not a Disney vacation Type of property. But if you are looking for a place to relax at your own pace this is the place for you. My wife and I loved it.

And a good time was had by all...
I'm often reluctant to review a property I like, because I fear of over popularity squeezing us out, just as we discover it. This is ever true now in a time of travel resurgence. But, fair is fair, and these folks put their best foot forward and offered up a perfect couples retreat, in the perfect place to be, well away from cities and congestion clogged highways. The range of cottages on offer in the greater Lubec area offer an array of prices and quality, and it's not always easy to determine which is better from the online postings. It's as often trial and error as much as studied investigation that decides which one is best for you. We must rely on the good will of the owners, property managers, and the generosity of prior guests writing reviews. In this case, we had the opportunity to have some back and forth with the property owners in the process and found ourselves greatly at ease with the Martins. We arrived at this lovely log home at the appointed time, just as the caretaker was leaving, and seeing she was a normal, well-spoken person was quite helpful for us to achieve a sense of comfort. Our initial impression was reinforced as we entered and found the cottage bright and clean, everything in its place, ready to enjoy. The cottage consists of an oversized living/family/dining/and kitchen area, all well-appointed, bright and clean. A small bedroom with two twin beds downstairs, and the bath is across the hall, and is quite large. Upstairs is the loft master bedroom with a nice firm platform king sized bed. It was all quite comfortable and uncomplicated. Everything was where you thought it should be, and not a lot of cute this and that you often see out there. Tasteful and useful sums it up pretty well. This is a cottage for a couple, or a couple with one or two small children, or even a teen, but no more than that. The extra bedroom is small, and there's just one bath. Obviously, you could cram in any number of people in there, but that would diminish the pleasure. For a small group, there is plenty of room to stretch out. The lovely log home is up on the side of a small pine topped cliff, overlooking the bay, Eastport is so close you could touch it, but it takes nearly an hour to drive to. You will get a gorgeous sunrise to the front right. Everything you need for a pleasant stay is right there and everything works. What more could you ask? And yes, it's very private. Enjoy, and thanks.
