Very dated, unable to relax as on a very busy a ro
Posted 12 Sep. 2016 on HotelsLovely staff, such a shame about the location... On such a busy road deserted, just one little cafe nearby buy you have to walk on the road on a busy A road! The hotel is very dated and signs of damp etc. Wouldnt return unfortunately.

Very recommendable
Posted 20 Sep. 2015 on HotelsGreat hotel in a perfect location: close to Pisa and even closer to Lucca, an astonishingly beautiful little town near Pisa. The house is a bit in the middle of nowhere, and a bit too close to the road if you are unlucky to get a room facing that way, but both Pisa and Lucca are near enough to not be a great drive and the traffic dies down during the night, so all good. Great service and plenty of room to park your car, which is something that became a sort of necessity when booking a hotel in Tuscany.

Takes a little time to appreciate it
Posted 17 Jul. 2015 on HotelsThe air conditioning unit was noisy and the bathroom could have more convenient surfaces (for shaving and toothbrushes etc) but the building grew on us, it takes a little time to appreciate it totally. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A bit of Lucca history to stay in
Posted 15 Oct. 2014 on HotelsLa Perla is an old villa which now a small hotel. Located close to lucca it made for a good spot from which to visit Lucca and Cinque Terre. Comfy room...but no heat (not needed as it was hot and humid) nor ac (That would have been nice!) as it was after ac season. No restaurants in walkable range...on a very busy and narrow road. No problem with road noise though. Helpful staff, clean and comfy room (though folks who like soft beds may find the bedd too hard). Parking lot

Pros: Nothing
Nice looking villa from 18th century but just at the side of the main road between Lucca and Pisa so there was almost continuous engine noise from the road even we were staying at the second floor, back corner room. For the travelers looking for some tranquility and better breakfast I would recommend a nearby hotel towards San Giuliano Terme just a few kilometers away before the tunnel.
Italian breakfast is not very famous for the variety of dishes as I learnt recently, but this place has got the gold medal for the limitations. During the breakfast, we asked for a Cappuccino which was brought half full in small coffee cups and there was a note on the wall saying that if you want to have some more coffee, it will cost you € 1 per additional cup.

WOW!!!!! The whole package!!!!
Posted 14 Jun. 2014 on ExpediaThis hotel was outstanding! This was an 18th century house/mannor/mansion that has been updated. The staff who runs the house is extremely friendly, bending over backwards to make the stay pleasant. She called to check bus schedules, called to see if a neighboring restaurant was open, placed our reservations. She was EXTREMELY friendly, pleasant, and helpful. The hotel common areas are as if you are a guest in the home of a local. My wife woke early to sit in the common area on the second floor, open up the outer doors and read with the shrub walled garden below. Then to breakfast where we sat in tables next to other guests. The rooms were very nice, bathrooms recently re done, very tasteful modern look, the bedrooms eligant with decorative painting on the ceiling. The hotel is best by car, however we took a cab from the train station in Lucca, it was about $16 euros. The road is tight so walking is not suggested. We then took the bus to Pisa for about $3 euros each. There is a bus stop across the street. The other benefit to this hotel... There is a bakery and geloteria right next door that is amazing. We highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again. We would highly recommend this hotel to others. We stayed here with ourselves and our 10 yr old.

Charming

Pros: The staff and the decor is what we enjoyed the most from this villa.
Cons: The breakfast is quite good, and it does have some room for improvement.
Location: Lucca is just five minutes away. Collodi, where Pinochio was written and created is 30 minutes away, wth a park and a beautiful XVIII century garden.
Our overall stay in Villa La Perla was fantastic. Stefania and Pier Luigi are phenomenal. The Villa is charming, nicely decorated, it is a very Tuscan welcoming decor. Stefania and Pier Luigi, thank you very much for all your attentions.

Great place/location for gaining access to Lucca but ask for a room away from the road.
