Comfortable week in Lucerne
Location is just perfect for strolling in beautiful Lucerne old town. Restaurants, shops and lake side are all in walking distance. Hotel is comfortable, but a bit dated. Room and reception area are a bit old, but still clean.

Proximity to bus stop and walkable alleys. The hotel doesn’t have a bar fridge which is disappointing. The bed is too close to the bathroom, such that, when you open the door, it touches the bed. The hallway is creaky and the carpet needs to be changed.

This is an old building so yes, there will be creaky floors and ‘ambiance’ that some may not appreciate. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. The view from our room (552) was out over the street towards Lake Lucerne. We had 3 windows, 2 of which were French doors opening into balconies. Easy walk to bakeries, local cheese shop, grocery, and many ‘best of Lucerne’ sites. Bus to the main train station was super easy.

Close to shopping and lots of restaurant options. Walking distance to Lucerne central train station. The room is basic and was warm even in the fall, a small electric fan is provided though. Afraid to keep the windows open as there is a ramp outside and anybody can get in to. Staff was helpful.

Squeaky floors. Had a hard time checking out as there’s no reception before 6am, so a lot of the people checking out had no idea where to leave keys. but they were so understanding when I left it inside my room.

We enjoy being just two blocks from the lake and about two blocks, maybe three to the wooden bridge being able to ride the public transportation was a plus and it was free

Hotel de la Paix is a lovely hotel. The building is old but it is well kept and modernized. The beds are comfortable as are the pillows. Breakfast is a plentiful buffet with great coffee of your choice. The elevator is small but fits two people with 4 suitcases pretty easily. It is located right on the edge of the old town and it's very easy walking to all areas. You can also get free use of the city's tram system which is extensive. The hotel has an arrangement with an indoor parking lot where you can park for 25 CHF per day. It is safe and clean and just around the corner from the hotel. The hotel will include the cost of the garage on your bill and validate the garage ticket so you don't have to pay at the garage. It was very easy. The garage is attached to the Coop supermarket which is a great place to buy sandwiches to go, or have lunch or dinner in their restaurant. The food is much cheaper than many local restaurants and very good. Lucerne is a beautiful city. Enjoy!
