THE STAY OF A LIFETIME
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Leopard Hill, in the Naboisho Conservancy, in the last week of May. It was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. As an hotelier with 20 years in 5-star properties I don’t say that lightly. We came for the safari, which did not disappoint, but it is also the Maasai people that we shall never forget. The hotel’s philosophy of sustainable development creating opportunities for the local people to protect their own lands and the wildlife is clearly evident. The team at Leopard Hill are some of the finest people we have ever met. We will return to Kenya purely to stay here.
DESIGN - Beautifully designed in a thoughtful yet understated way so that you feel both at home and that you’re staying somewhere very special. The constant sound of the bush: birds and insects, monkeys and elephants, hyenas laughing and lions roaring in the night. The design is restrained, so as not to compete with the stunning surroundings. Whether you’re consulting a wildlife book from the library over a cup of tea on the reception veranda, enjoying a leisurely breakfast after an early game drive or lying in bed watching the stars through the retractable roof, the bush is always centre stage. I was struck by the attention to detail: discovering a hot water bottle in your bed on chilly evenings, mosquito repellent and sun cream on hand in case you forget yours, the complimentary refilled glass water bottles and, of course, the noticeable abs
