The 600 year old Ottmanach Estate in the heart of Carinthia lies in idyllic unspoilt countryside at the foot of the Magdalensberg with stunning views over the mountains bordering Slovenia and Italy, both only 45 minutes away by car. The Estate's origins date back to the 12th Century.
The two apartments in the 16th century vaulted Dower House at Ottmanach have recently been restored and modernised with new bathrooms and kitchens. They also have a washing machine and music player and TVs. Both are now decorated with antique Austrian furniture, carpets and clocks with local paintings of the the mountains and churches.
The Estate's lake has its own hut, boat, jetty, picnic table and BBQ, all available for the use of people taking the holiday flats.

Idyllisch gelegen, aber schlecht organisiert
Wir haben 12 Tage im Gut Ottmanach verbracht. Dabei keine einzige Kommunikation seitens des Vermieters mit uns, außer wenn wir nachgefragt haben.
Stattdessen wurden uns Dinge untersagt .. die Kinder durften einen Teil des Geländes nicht betreten, weil der Besitzer vor Ort war. Wir sollten unsere Wäsche nicht draußen trocknen, weil das nicht gut "aussehen" würde. Davon haben wir auch nur indirekt erfahren, wobei die Damen aus dem Büro wohl gerade im Urlaub waren. Den Gutsherrn hat es offensichtlich nicht interessiert, was mit seinen Gästen passiert. Stattdessen gab es ständig Treffen oder Gäste, die über den Hof fuhren und geparkt haben.
Tennisplatz und Schwimmbad waren deswegen nicht nutzbar, obwohl wir nicht den Eindruck hatten, dass beide viel vom Eigentümer genutzt wurden.
In der Wohnung z.T. muffiger Geruch, den wir versuchten mit Tafelessig und Lüften herauszubekommen, was mäßig gelang.
Im Ort Ottmanach ist nichts los, d.h. kein Laden und keine Gastronomie, man muss also immer mit dem Auto in die Nachbarorte oder weiter weg fahren.
Wir würden die Buchung nicht nochmal wiederholen und können die Unterkunft daher auch nicht wirklich empfehlen.

Wunderschöne Umgebung und Anlage mit der die Wohnung nicht mithalten kann
Die Umgebung, der Park, der Pool und die Gebäude von außen (!) sind wunderschön.
Die Wohnung kann diesem Standard leider nicht gerecht werden.
* Sauberkeit: Ein Großteil der Wohnung ist mit Teppichböden ausgelegt - diese sind leider durchwegs fleckig. Die Polstermöbel im Wohnzimmer ebenso.
* Die Küche ist sehr spärlich ausgestattet und viel vom Geschirr war nicht wirklich sauber.
* Badezimmer: nur minimale Ablage, keine Haken
* Bei den Matratzen gibt es die Wahl zwischen extrem hart und durchgelegen.
* Das Einbettzimmer war kaum nutzbar, da ein konstant muffiger Geruch vorherrschte.
* Man ist hier am Land, Kirchenglocken in der Früh sind erwartbar, Traktorenbetrieb um 6:45 vor dem Schlafzimmer nicht.
* Kleiner Punkt: WLAN nur im Wohnzimmer und der Küche
Unterm Strich: eine wunderschöne Anlage mit einem Appartment, das sehr viel Luft nach oben hat.
Man kann hier Urlaub machen, aber nicht zu diesem Preis.

Winterurlaub
Wir haben unseren Winterurlaub in Kärnten verbracht, es ist ein grosses Haus , sehr gut für eine Grossfamilie, denn ist genügend Platz.
Parkplatz ist vorhanden. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. Ein Geschirrtuch hat uns gefehlt, sonst war alles gut :-)

Rammstein in Klagenfurt
Eine schöne alte, restaurierte Anlage, die alles bot, was wir uns wünschten. Einrichtung und Ausstattung entsprachen dem, was wir uns vorgestellt hatten.
Wir hatten schöne Tage dort, die Entfernungen zu allem, was wir unternehmen wollten, waren gut zu bewältigen. Rammstein Konzert und verschiedene Attraktionen der Umgebung konnten wir prima genießen.
Dabei liegt das Objekt doch schon ziemlich weit ab, bietet aber die nötige Ruhe für Entspannung und Erholung.

Leider enttäuschend
Wir waren im August 2018 mit insgesamt 5 Erwachsenen und einem Baby zu Gast in Ottmanach.
Der Start war etwas holperig, weil die Gastgeber unsere Anreise "verwechselt" hatten. Dies führte dazu, dass weder die Verwalterin noch eine andere Ansprechpartnerin anwesend waren. Wir haben uns dann durch laute Rufe bemerkbar gemacht und nach einiger Zeit kam ein sehr netter und freundlicher Landwirt, der uns geholfen und die Ferienwohnung geöffnet hat.
Der Zustand der Ferienwohnung "Schlosshof" entsprach leider nicht den auf der Homepage gemachten Angaben "liebevoll neu renoviert":
- Badezimmer im 80er Jahre Stil, mit zerbrochenem Spiegel, schimmeligem Duschvorhang und Fugen
- Toilettendeckel und Spiegel waren defekt, wurden aber nach 4 Tagen getauscht
- tote Insekten in den Fensteröffnungen
- sehr einfache Einrichtung aus dem Baumarkt - keine Badunterschränke, wenig Ablageflächen
- ein Schlafzimmer mit weißem aber leider verdrecktem Teppich
- Bett und Matratzen waren gut (angenehm hart)
- Einrichtung der Küche leider sehr primitiv, alte sehr abgenutzte Schränke, schmutzige und stark übel riechende Putzschwämme, teilweise Speisereste am Geschirr / Aufkleber von Ikea unter dem Geschirr
- Kinderstuhl fehlte, wurde freundlicherweise durch die Verwalter besorgt
- Linoleum-Fliesen-Optik an der Wand der Küche löst sich ab
- Wohnzimmer: Sofa leider durchgesessen, Metallfedern spürbar
- Fernseher mit internationalen Programmen
- Internet nur im Wohnzimmer nutzbar (Signal durchdringe die dicken Wände nicht und Eigentümer hat keinen weiteren Repeater)
- entgegen der Aussage auf der Homepage war der Tennisplatz nicht nutzbar, da Schlossherr vor Ort, Alternative nur mit Auto erreichbar
- starke Ruhestörung durch "Geburtstagsparty" der Eigentümer bis 02:30 Uhr in einer Nacht, ansonsten sehr ruhig
- Waschmaschine war leider defekt - für eine Familie mit Kleinkind sehr ungünstig
- Trockner war vorhanden aber auch defekt
Insgesamt wirkt die Vermietung leider sehr lieblos und nicht bemüht. Wir können daher leider auf Basis unseres Aufenthaltes keine Empfehlung für diese Unterkunft aussprechen.
Die Lage in Magdalensberg ist sehr schön und eine Reise wert.
Aufgrund der vielfältigen Mängel haben wir diese bei der Verwaltung reklamiert. Diese hat uns gegenüber die Rücküberweisung eines Teilbetrages zugesagt und eine Flasche Schnaps geschenkt. Leider ist der zugesagte Teilbetrag bis zum heutigen Tag nicht eingegangen. Abreise vor ca. 10 Tagen.

Eine tolle Atmosphäre
Ein wunderschöner Schloßgarten mit großem Pool ,(man fühlt sich königlich)
die Mitarbeiter/innen des Gutshofs sind sehr sympathisch und freundlich,
das Gemeindebad,welches man als Gast der Ferienwohnung gratis besuchen kann,ist genial.
Leider riecht die Ferienwohnung immer etwas muffig, besonders das große Schlafzimmer,
das Badezimmer, die seperate Dusche und das WC sind ziemlich einfach

wunderschöne Urlaubswoche in Ottmanach
Wir waren 2 Erwachsene und 4Jugendliche (zwischen 12 und 14 Jahren ) eine Woche in der großzügigen Ferienwohnung des Schlosses Ottmanach.Da die Eigentümer nicht anwesend waren konnten wir den herrlichen Pool benutzen.Auch Billard ,Tischtennis und vor allem der Fischteich fand großen Anklang.Die Lage der Wohnung am Fuße des Magdalensberges war ideal.In wenigen Fahrminuten erreicht man den Wörthersee,Hochosterwitz und Klagenfurt.Die Betreuung durch Elisabeth( und Karin ) war bestens.
Der Spruch "Genießen mit allen Sinnen " stimmte für uns wirklich.

Traumhafte Ferien auf dem Gut
Große Ferienwohnung, ideal für größere Familien, im ehemaligen Gesindehaus eines barocken Schlosses. Da der Besitzer nicht anwesend war, konnten wir den gesamten Park inkl. großem, stets sauberen Pool und privatem Tennisplatz nutzen! Alle Mitarbeiter des Gutes waren unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend, es war ein traumhafter Aufenthalt.
