Disliked: Staff & service
Arrived with a concierge mumbling something about he needs to take our bags. Being half deaf I couldn’t hear him. He wrapped some tags around our bags and was walking away with them when I had no idea what was happening. I asked him and found out he was storing them as the room wasn’t ready, I had to ask him to slow down as I neeeded something out of my bag first. All happened so quickly I was gobsmacked and so put out. When our room was ready I then went to ask reception for my bags back and saw a man in Novotel uniform and asked him as I could see the reception staff were busy. The coloured lady not only told the member of staff off but myself. I’m sorry but I do not take kindly to being spoken to like that.
I’ve been staying at that hotel in Manchester for over 20yrs on and off every time I visit the theatre and never in all of those years have I had that kind of treatment off of any of the staff. They have always been extremely polite. I’ve never, ever had to put a bad review in about the hotel either but I feel it’s important I do on this occasion as no one should be treated like a second class citizen especially in their own country. Very, very disappointed with the check in procedure, the whole experience has really put me off ever staying there again as the service has become like a Travelodge, had I wanted that service I would have booked into the travelodge over the road. I do not expect to pay a premium rate fee for a room to get spoken to the way I did. Retrain
