This inn was done to a good standard considering its part of a pub. Unfortunately, as a result of a last minute booking, the host wasnt available to check me in so one of the bar staff let me in but had to wait an hour until the pub opened at 7pm. 3-5pm check in was made clear on the site, however arrived late so its not practical for last minute bookings.
The double room was nice, a great size with a sofa so felt like good value for money. Shared bathroom was well kept but shower tray was a little tired.
I had a drink at the bar minding my own business to unwind after a busy day but my stay was completely ruined by a customer who was a local. Sadly, the person singled me out and was racially abusive to me (I’m British Indian). Slowly they were becoming more and more confrontational until I was made to leave after being violently threatened if i didnt go. Unfortunately, during this escalation, the bar staff were no where to be seen which left me feeling very unsafe and trapped. I returned to my room and locked myself in until the pub shut following which i left in the early hours to get away. The host mentioned i should have phoned him but quite frankly, it wasnt on my mind considering they weren't about and i was feeling very trapped. The person was saying how he was a gypsy so the last thing i wanted to do was create any trouble for anyone when he knew i was staying there. Id have given top marks but this ruined my overall stay and a shame staff were not about during this
