The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and has the most stunning tree; however, it lacked in dining options especially during the busy season. Also, the rooms can use a major upgrade in style, water pressure, and offerings especially given the price per night.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! Visiting at Christmas was spectacular. The courtyard is absolutely gorgeously decorated as well as the rest of the hotel. The staff it's not only of the highest caliber, but they are all very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for your visit to the city, you can walk just about anywhere.

Our first time staying here. We booked a double King room facing the city (not Cathedral). View was ok. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom could be bigger. It needed shelves below the sink for space to put toiletry bags. The lobby and the courtyard were lovely with Christmas decorations. Staffs there were all really nice. The Gold bar was a nice place to have a drink. Our only complaint is the wait time for an elevator to go down. It took a very long time to get one when you are at the high floors. We were on the 36th floor and each time we want to go downstairs, it took at least 10-15 mins plus making a few other stops going down. Give yourself at least 30 min buffer time if you have a reservation somewhere. The holiday season is the busiest here, but the most beautiful! We loved how they had Santa visit in the lobby and on Saturdays, there’s a free tour of the mansions. The history was amazing! We loved it! The hotel is also very convenient walking distance to many attraction sites and restaurants/cafes/bars. We will probably come back again next year!

Lovely hotel

The hotel was a lot better during the week than the weekend. It was too crowded like a convention hotel on the weekend. Too much for the price. But it was decorated beautifully, the service first class, food delicious, the GOLD Roommis a must see as well as the Xmas Tree outside. Would definitely stay again -

Underwhelmed by the Lotte New York Palace

The Lotte was a very underwhelming experience, especially relative to the cost. We paid $900/night for a room in early December. Pros - Location is excellent, view was great, and rooms are large for NYC - Lobby is nice, especially at Christmas time - A handful of small experiences for kids at Christmas (Santa in the lobby on Sundays, letter placed in Santa’s mailbox in lobby receives an envelope to your room) Cons - Rooms are old and surprisingly dated (felt like a room from the 90s) - Elevators are ridiculously bad. Multiple days we waited more than 10 minutes for an elevator down to the lobby. Stairs aren’t really an option for most rooms because of the height of the hotel (e.g., we were on 26th floor). - Rooms are not serviced every day with no explanation - Restaurant food tasted like a Hampton Inn continental breakfast (no offense to Hampton Inn; quality of food for 10x the price is shocking though). - No evening turn down service which is strange for a high end hotel - Staff is largely unhelpful. Concierge was especially poor, I tried making a breakfast reservation a few days out (at their own restaurant!) and she told me to go upstairs and talk to the restaurant hostess. Restaurant server was rude, he acted annoyed when he came to take our breakfast order and I asked him for a menu first. Doormen were friendly. - Lobby was constantly packed with non-hotel guests taking photos and wandering around I would not stay here again.

Property was decorated amazingly & the people were lovely. Downside is a huge hotel with SIX elevators. At one point, only three were working. The wait to go up or down was ridiculous. We walked down TWENTY FLIGHTS of stairs MORE THAN ONCE with my 2 kids. To pay that amount for a hotel and have to walk down twenty flights of stairs twice is insanity. As much as we loved all the Christmas decor & touches, we will not be staying there again.

Visited at the beginning of December, the property, staff and decorations are first class. Very busy due to the time of year, to be expected but the lift situation is quite annoying. Only six lifts and at checkout time, 11am we waited 25 minutes to get to the lobby. I mentioned to get in a lift but my husband and daughter walked down 21floors to the lobby. I suppose that’s the difference with an older hotel, just be prepared during holidays and plan you departure accordingly. Would definitely stay here again
