Not going to lie the only thing about this hotel that is amazing is literally their staff, and the location, the location is in prime area, and the staff is absolutely fantastic, extremely helpful, extremely kind, extremely friendly, and truly the only reason that my stay was good. The hotel room was dirty, the mirrors were broken, I went to the washroom in the main lobby On a Tuesday afternoon and there was No toilet paper. There is literally no facilities within the hotel. It is absolutely not what it looks like in the pictures either, the lobby is run down and dingie, I was also promised free baggage holding for free but when I went to utilize the service it was a $3 per bag charge. Within 15 floors available that have an ice machine on every single floor the only one that the hotel staff said was working was the one on Floor 7, when I waited 45 minutes for the elevator I finally got to dloor 7 to find out that ice machine was also broken. There is only two available elevators in the entire hotel, and the elevators are extremely extremely extremely slow and they only hold seven people. Literally one of the worst hotels ive ever stayed in NYC. I will NOT be back ever again. When I say the only good thing about the hotel is the location and the people (staff) I absolutely mean it. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE.

Rooms are a decent size for NYC. Great walkability. Central area, safe and close the restaurants. Hotel was not very clean, and the staff were not very helpful. Bring Lysol wipes if you decide to stay here

Elevator tooo small and slow I missed a paid for taxi because I could not get in the elevator because it would bypass my floor go up come back and it’s full (7 max) didn’t have hot water on a day delivery of something didn’t come?

Although the hotel is very convenient to Times Square and the Rockefeller Center it didn’t have any amenities. The hot water tank was out one morning. The elevator is so small and although there were 2 only one was working. The day we were leaving we had to take the stairs with our luggage because we couldn’t get an elevator. They were jammed packed whenever it stopped on our floor.

This was my first time at this hotel. Sunny, one of the nicest ladies, at the front desk was great. The hotel rooms were small but the hotel itself is very charming. Just know going in that the hotel is an older hotel. We had an issue with no hot water but that was it. Location was great, just two blocks from TS and walking to get around to other places was fine. I plan to do the trip again and will stay at this hotel.

I'm Not Going Back
I've added The Gallivant to my "no stay" list. The room was tiny and in bad shape (chipped woodwork, chipped paint on the walls, dirty windows). The shower was miserable: there was a pane of glass over half the stall, and the other half of the staff was empty. Was this supposed to be trendy and chic? The bathroom floor flooded every time I took a shower. The sign said there were ice machines on the 15th and 10th floors: the machine on the 15th floor was dead and in fact there was no ice machine at all on the 10th floor. Only two tiny elevators for 16 floors? I had to wait 10 minutes for an elevator. On the day I checked out, one of the elevators appeared to be not working (it was stuck on the 3rd floor). For $388 per night, I expected better than this mess. I'm not going back.

So I do not normally complain to much and this is just actually for other readers to make an informed decision. The hotel is in a great location for seeing a show and time square. I know that this is NYC so everything is going to cost money. This hotel is more like a Motel 6. I would say it is a 2.5 star . I did not interact with the staff so I can’t complain about that . The service staff was helpful and nice. ROOM at best was a ok place to lay your head down to sleep bed was nice. Shower was updated but not that well thought out no shower curtain so water spills onto floor , no thermostat so you can’t control the room temp. Wall air condition with a on/ off light switch again no temp control no heater access it just is on. Some lights work fine other flicker TV was good room was small not much to say other than it was very expensive for not a lot of frills just a room with certain flaws. And probably the best advice I can give is ask for a room near the 1st floor level anything above level 3 would require you to use the elevators of which only 2 worked and they only had a 6 person capacity each to cover 15 floors sometimes it would take at least up to 15 minutes for one to arrive to my 7th floor now the other draw back is that the hotel shares a wall with a nightclub so if you are on that side of the club the music pounds away until 4am in the morning and trust me I heard it all night up on the 7th floor. Not complaining just trying to inform anyone who chooses to stay

Not my choice in the future.
No access to thermostat in our room. Hotel halls dirty, undergoing renovations but truly a mess. No hot water in the building day of departure so no showers. Elevators slow and inadequate! Location for Broadway good and the staff was trying all doing their best in hard conditions.

Be prepared to wait for elevator
Most expensive hotel we've ever stayed at in NYC. Paid over $1000 fro 2 nights. It was NYC marathon weekend so maybe that's why. Wait for the one elevator was extremely long-took over 20 minutes to go and back down every time. Door would make huge noise every time it was opened and door lock on inside was half off and dangling. On a plus, location was convenient - very central to theaters and bus station (Penn). Friendly and courteous staff.

This hotel is terrible! We killed roaches, the floors were dirty, walls were banged and scratched and in terrible condition. The door barely opened and closed to our room. There is a night club and the music is very loud until 4am every night. Worst of all is they have no heat!!!!! We called the front desk, went to the desk multiple times. The staff said it was a housekeeping problem and nothing they could do about it. We asked them to fix the heat and after the 5th time they sent someone up to turn the heat off. Literally it was terrible. Do NOT book this hotel. The pictures do not tell the story. We stayed the first week in December 2024 and will never be back. I have pictures of the hotel room to prove the disgust!
