I was traveling with my kids and dog to see the solar eclipse on April 8 and had booked this place months in advance. At 5:30 PM on April 7 and after two hours of driving, I stopped for gas and saw a message from the owner (sent at 430pm) that she was canceling my reservation. I found her number and called and she explained there was an electrical issue and apologized, and offered a refund, but no other help. Had she taken the time or effort to actually call me at 430 she would have saved me hours of driving, but since I was already over halfway there, I felt like I had less options. I ended up finding a much more expensive pet friendly room (which was in extremely short supply for the eclipse), and asked if she would be willing to help cover the difference in costs because she left me in such a bind. Not surprisingly to me at this point I got no response to that request. To top things off I later saw a review posted on April 8 from someone saying that they had an excellent girls weekend and the timing shows April 2024, so I feel like I was booted for another group with no compensation. VRBO will only compensate for stays of two nights or more, so I was left with no recourse. Since I didn’t actually stay at the property, I gave it three stars for cleanliness and other property related items, but one star or less for communication and overall experience. Buyer beware.
