Rustic Foxhole

A stay in this rustic cabin will bring beautiful sunsets on the beach, an unplugged (no wi-fi) vacation with easy access to Marquette and Munising. Two bedrooms easily sleep four, couches and loft space accessible for more visitors. A full kitchen with full utensils and cooking ware. Toaster, toaster oven, small oven, four burner stove. Dining table, TV with DVD player. This is an older cabin, the water is high mineral content and not recommended for drinking but safe for washing and cooking. Miles of sandy beach right across the two lane highway. The access to the beach is fairly limited, but the Foxhole is directly across from a scenic turnout with an overlook where miles of sandy beach await down below. The parking area on the property is gravel and the walk down to the foxhole is mixed gravel and sand. Only fifteen miles outside of Marquette and and easy drive to Munising, recommended for those looking to take in nature and outdoor activities the UP has to offer.
*Note for 2023: The property to the east of the Foxhole has been clearcut, I am unsure of how this will affect the temperature inside the Foxhole. Rates may be adjusted accordingly as the season goes on. Outdoor photos will be updated soon.

Great getaway
My cousin and I had a wonderful time! The location was central to the places we had planned to visit. Even though it was right by the highway, it was very peaceful.

Rustic Foxhole - Small and Convenient
Our stay at the Rustic Foxhole was way more than expected. Very clean, had all the amenities needed for a perfect stay. Right across from Lake Superior made it convenient for a beach day and watching the northern lights at night. Just a 10 minute jot from Marquette made it nice and close for any runs into town. Would definitely stay here again. Our host was very responsive with any questions we had. Very recommended property.

Nice stay!
The cabin was clean and is well-furnished with lots of beds, if you need to sleep many, but for our 3-person family it was more than enough space. Check-in was utterly simple as we got instructions days in advance. The surrounding nature and proximity to the lake, wildlife refuges, the City of Marquette, etc. put it in an ideal location for us-- 15 minutes or so outside Marquette for total peace and quiet when we weren't busy in the city. Would definitely stay again.

Our only problem was the awful beds and pillows. Was ready to check out and stay somewhere else. Couldn't even sleep with my newly husband bc the beds were so awful in each room.

Awesome Retro Cabin in the UP of Michigan
The “Fox Hole” cabin is in Harvey Michigan just 25 min from Marquette Michigan. It sits snuggled just across the 2 lane hi way from Lake Superior. Husband and 14 yr Grandson and I were very comfy there!! Sadly land to east was clear cut but didn’t affect the temps in the cabin. This is not a 5 star hotel; it’s a darling comfortable cabin with tons of charm. It is well supplied with just about everything you might need!! No WIFI and we did NOT miss regular tv; watched a few CD movies but spent most of our time at the Lake or at surrounding places we love in the area. We slept in main bedroom full size (mattress could use upgrading) and Grandson loved his privacy and was very comfy upstairs. We enjoyed sunsets; fires after and were thrilled to see the Milky Way two nights. Our host Sarah was super. Can’t wait to go back again🌟

Cute little cabin
Nice place to vacation across the street from a really nice beach. Was too cold to test Lake Superior tho. Felt private even tho we were right off the highway. No wifi but a really good selection of DVD for you to chose from.

Weekend Getaway
The Fox Hole was exactly as described. The house was very clean with plenty of towels for guests. The kitchen was supplied with the basics needed for a weekend. The location was great: right across the road from beach access and Lake Superior. It was a quick 10 minute drive to Marquette and a 30 minute drive to Munising. We will definitely keep the Fox Hole in mind when we return to Marquette!

It’s a cozy cabin and has a real rustic charm. There are plenty of beds so I can imagine a lot of people could stay here and it’s so reasonably priced. The owner did a good job keeping in touch during our stay and I really appreciated it.

Great location, friendly hosts
The Rustic Foxhole is a great location right across a the highway from the beach, where we swam and watched beautiful sunsets every night. (The street is fairly busy with cars driving fast. We never had a hard time running across to the beach but would not let kids do it unsupervised.) It is a 10 min drive to Marquette and about 30 to Pictured Rocks area. The house is rustic as described, but was comfortable for a family of 4 and had most of the things we needed. The host was very easy to communicate with before and during our trip. There is a lot to do in the area!

Not what expected
Not at all what we expected based on the previous reviews and description. Very run down and unkept, needs lots of updates and a deep clean (ie popcorn under the couch cushions and crumbs on the pull out cutting board). We visit the UP multiple times a year and have never had this experience.

Lovely private little nook
Truly enjoyed staying here. Nice secluded spot right across from the beach. Even though its on M28, with the trees surrounding the cottage, you did not really hear the traffic. I would just suggest adding a vegetable peeler and some tongs for grilling to the silverware drawer though. I will definitely rent here again! Host was so helpful with all of my questions.
