Villa la Sirena is a large and comfortable house on the Versilia's hills, with a fantastic view on the coast, from Livorno to La Spezia, which embraces the whole Massaciuccoli lake. In the clear days it is even possible to see till Corsica and Elba island.
Villa la Sirena is a typical holiday house, surrounded by a pine and chestnut wood. It has a private garden of about 500 m2, where kids and animals can calmly play in security. The wood and the garden make this place particularity calm, and there are no neighbours to disturb.
The house has two floors with two wide terraces facing the sea. The ground floor has a large kitchen, the dining room, a corner living room and a small storeroom. Two steps lead to the first bedroom and to the bathroom. The upper floor has a wide and clear living room, with very large windows facing the sea and the lake. The room has a warming chimney and a bed sofa. From the living room, a small staircase and a wooden gallery bring to the two other bedrooms with a baby bed.
The kitchen is very wide and well equipped. In the dining room, a large table can keep till 8/10 people. In the upper floor living room is particularly large, with armchairs and big sofas.
The furniture is simple but particularly comfortable, with some old pieces of furniture, pictures and hunting scenes on the walls. The house has also a shell library with illustrated books over Tuscany and others artistic and tourist Italian towns and places. The outside garden, just next to the house, has a wood-oven where roasted meats, breads and pizzas can be easily baked. In the pine wood you can find also an old gazebo where you can read, play cards and even enjoy a candle light dinner.
From Villa la Serena you can walk in the woods reaching the small villages of Fibbialla and Gualdo, where you can find a restaurant which serves also pizzas. From Villa la Sirena you can see the Massaciuccoli lake, which largely inspired the famous composer Giacomo Puccini. During the Summer, in Torre del Lago Puccini you can enjoy a famous Opera Festival with many Puccini's unforgettable operas, like Turandot, Boheme, Tosca, etc. In the surroundings there is Pieve a Elici (2,8 km) with the splendid Romanesque parish church of San Pantaleone. Here, in the summer months are held very good chamber music concerts. Not far (6 km) you find Massarosa, a large village with all kind of shops and a supermarket. Camaiore (12 km) is an old small town, famous for its typical gastronomic specialities. On the coast, there is Viareggio (12 km) with its beaches, cinemas and nice shops all along the beautiful and long promenade. Southern from Viareggio, you can reach the free and wild beaches in the Natural Park of San Rossore and Migliarino, far only 20 minutes by car. Northern, after only few kilometers, you can find others Versilia's famous places like Forte dei Marmi (24 km) and Pietrasanta (17 km). Pietrasanta, known as 'the small Athens', has a large number of foreign artists' and sculptors' ateliers. Here you can enjoy of many typical restaurants, and art exhibitions above all during the summer.
