If you are looking to step back in time and have all the luxuries and amenities afforded by a classic McCall lakefront cabin, then look no further than Inertia Inn. Located in the very desirable area of Sylvan Beach, the cabin was originally one of the many cabins used during the filming of Northwest Passage that was shot in McCall in the late 1930's and starred Spencer Tracy. The present owner's family purchased the cabin in 1947 after the previous owner's wife had a late night sighting of our local “sea monster,” Sharlie! The cabin has remained in the same family ever since, although it has been winterized and modernized several times over the years! Sitting on the west shore of Payette Lake and looking back on the city of McCall, the Inertia Inn sleeps ten in the main house and, during the spring, summer, and fall months sleeps two additional people in the private “Wigwam” for a total of 12 people in beds. The beautiful views and fantastic location will not be the only thing to delight your senses. You will spend plenty of time taking in the incredibly unique decor on the walls and throughout the home. As soon as you step through the antique stained glass door you will be awestruck by the views of Payette Lake that are visible throughout the home. Once outside on the lakeside decks, the views only get better as you have an unimpeded panorama of McCall, Ponderosa Park, and Jughandle Mountain.
The main living area is connected to the galley kitchen and features a sitting room with two chairs and a smart tv with DISH Network service. There is also a sunroom with incredible views of the lake through floor to ceiling windows. Both of these rooms are open to the fully stocked kitchen where you can socialize with family in the sitting areas or just enjoy watching beautiful Payette Lake while you prepare delicious meals for your entire group. Following off the sunroom is another living room with ample seating to enjoy watching a movie, reading a good book, or playing a game. This room also enjoys beautiful views of Payette Lake.
When it is time to enjoy dinner, gather in the dining room at the unique round dining table with seating for 6-8 people. On warm nights, there are two large granite dining tables with seating for everyone on the outside deck overlooking the large beach and Payette Lake. The deck, which extends the entire length of the home, features multiple seating areas to enjoy watching family play on the private dock and beach, look for shooting stars at night, or on occasion, enjoy a wonderful mountain summer storm roll in across the lake under the porch overhang. Launch your boat in town and take it across the lake to the Inertia Inn and dock it on your own private dock. There is room to park a boat trailer in the driveway, but it can be tight with multiple vehicles. If you are not boating, there is plenty of room for the entire group to spread out and enjoy some quality lake time on the expansive beach. Tucked away, but still commanding amazing views of Payette Lake or the stars at night, is a 6-8 person hot tub to enjoy. Long days at the beach and on the boat produce plenty of laundry, but there is no need to worry. A full sized large capacity washer/dryer in the laundry room off the kitchen will meet your needs during your stay!
When it is time to turn in for the night, there are plenty of options to choose from! The master bedroom is on its own private section of the main level and features a plush queen sized bed. The light colors and white trim of the walls from the original (but now insulated!) cabin give the
master a “beachy” vibe which matches nicely with the nautically themed attached master bath. The separate toilet and shower room and single vanity with plenty of counter space finish off this private master suite. Upstairs you will find the second bedroom and the bunk room. Some of the most stunning views in the entire home are seen through a modestly-sized picture window in the second bedroom. Decorated in floral wallpaper and a plush green carpet, this bedroom might make you think you have stepped back in to the late 70's, but you might just decide that stepping back in time is not so bad as you lay in the king sized bed and watch the beautiful mountain sunrise across Payette Lake! If you prefer, you might even choose to spend some quiet time lounging in the love seat and taking in the views! The bunk room is perfect for kids, and parents will love its remote location upstairs and down the hall! There are six single beds in total; two sets of bunk beds and two separate twin beds. With a large dresser and closet, this room has plenty of storage for clothes and luggage. The second bedroom and the bunk room share a large galley bathroom with a huge soaking tub, separate water closet, shower and single-sink vanity with plenty of counter and drawer space. Don't forget the “Wigwam!” It is a private small log guest room with a comfy full sized bed situated away from the main house. Tongue and groove paneling adorn the interior of this rustic cabin from floor to ceiling and bring back that “beachy” feel from the master. A water closet, shower and sink complete the room. Waking up to the warm sun greeting you through the east facing windows often makes this private oasis the most desirable accommodation at Inertia Inn!
